PROGRAM DIRECTOR – BEFORE & AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

PLASP Child Care Services is a charitable organization operating on a not-for-profit basis, providing high-quality early learning and child care for children up to 12 years of age. PLASP operates in more than 240 schools offering before school, lunch, and after school programs, as well as 30 full-day early learning and child care centres and six EarlyON locations for children from 0 – 6 years.

THE POSITION …

The successful candidate will perform duties including :

  • Establishing and maintaining a safe, warm, and caring environment for a high-quality extended day program
  • Planning, developing, and implementing age-appropriate activities that promote physical, social, emotional, and intellectual well-being, in accordance with the Child Care Early Years Act (CCEYA), How Does Learning Happen? (HDLH), and PLASP guidelines, including P.A. Days
  • Budgeting and ordering food, preparing nutritious breakfast and snacks following the Canada Food Guide and PLASP snack planner
  • Supervising and training staff, volunteers, and students on placement, providing leadership, decision-making, and conducting performance appraisals
  • Managing program administration, including registration, record-keeping, health and safety monitoring, and supplies
  • Ensuring compliance with Ministry of Education (MEDU) standards and maintaining the CCEYA license
  • Participating fully in P.A. Days, providing safe and reliable care on and off school premises

Job Requirements :

THE PREFERRED CANDIDATE WILL HAVE …

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in child care and community service organizations, with supervision experience preferred
  • Knowledge of the Child Care Early Years Act (CCEYA) and Ministry of Education licensing requirements
  • An ECE degree/diploma and registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators (RECE)
  • A valid Standard First Aid Certificate with Level C CPR
  • A valid Criminal Reference Check – Vulnerable Sector
  • All health requirements (immunizations) met as per CCEYA and Medical Officer of Health guidelines
