We are currently recruiting Registered Early Childhood Educator(s) or equivalent (Child and Youth Worker or OCT Member) and Assistant Educator(s) to join our Team inAlliston at the following location(s):St. Cecilia CS, Marshview PS, Cookstown Central PS & Sir William Osler PS.

Pay Range: $20.20 - $29.79/hour

  • Assistant: $20.20 - $23.08/hour (includes General Operating Grant) plus Wage Enhancement Grant (up to $2.00/hr) & Split Shift Premium ($2.00/hr).
  • RECE or Equivalent: $26.07 - $29.79/hour (includes General Operating Grant) plus Wage Enhancement Grant (up to $2.00/hr) & Split Shift Premium ($2.00/hr).

*Candidates must be available to work a split shift in a before and after school program.

Position Type & Required Availability:

  • Full-time Split Shift Position (27.5-31.25 hours/week): Candidates must be available to work a split-shift (morning and afternoon) in our Before & After School programs Monday-Friday to be considered.
  • Full-time Supply Position (27.5-40 hours/week): Candidates must be available to work a split-shift (morning and afternoon) in our Before & After School programs or a full day (8-hour shift) Monday-Friday to be considered.

Position Summary:

To ensure operational and curriculum requirements are met in compliance with all Ministry and organizational guidelines. To ensure the delivery of a developmentally appropriate, play based program by applying specialized skills and knowledge related to early childhood education. Supports the organization’s vision, mission, and guiding values. This is a fully in-centre position.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Applies current legislative expectations and professional knowledge to support a program that is consistent with Ministry of Education requirements and in accordance with Upper Canada Child Care’s program statement.
  • Adheres to the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice as outlined by the Ontario College of Early childhood Educators (for RECE position).
  • Engages with the children and provides a positive learning experience. Provides a range of care including assisting with meals/snacks, toileting, diapering, dressing, etc.
  • Participates in professional development opportunities, staff meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Completes program charts, daily logs, reports, and other administration tasks as required.
  • Provides guidance to assistant educators, students and volunteers as needed.
  • Fosters the engagement of and ongoing communication with parents about the program and their children. Attends parent and community meetings as needed.
  • Uses Storypark for pedagogical documentation as a guide for program development.
  • Effectively collaborates and communicates with other team members, school personnel, and outside agencies to help support the needs of all children.
  • Identifies children in need of additional support. Guides parents through the process of accessing resources. Helps design and implement individual support plans as required.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education (or approved equivalency) from a recognized college or university (for ECE position).
  • At least 18 years of age or older due to licensing requirements.
  • Health assessment and up-to-date record of immunization as outlined by legislation.
  • Up-to-date registration with the College of ECEs (if applicable).
  • Up-to-date certification in CPR-C and Standard First Aid (training provided upon selection if required).
  • Experience with inquiry/play based program design and implementation, and with the use of pedagogical documentation.
  • Uses initiative; applies sound reason in solving problems and resolves conflict in a calm, professional manner.
  • Proven ability to communicate (written and verbal) effectively and establish appropriate relationships with families, coworkers and other professionals.
  • Have the physical and emotional stamina to effectively supervise children in a variety of settings including outdoor public spaces.
  • Ability to use computer systems and programs; including Dayforce, and Storypark.
  • Moderate level of physical effort is regularly required; including but not limited to kneeling, pushing, pulling, bending, and carrying.
