Job description

JOB TITLE: Rebuild Shop Technician
LOCATION: Sudbury, ON
SHIFT: Afternoon Shift (Monday - Thursday, 3:00 p.m. - 1:00 a.m.)
Scope

The Shop Technician is responsible for supporting the rebuild shop by performing tests, troubleshooting, equipment repairs, and mentoring apprentices. They must work safely, meet operational needs, and comply with safety procedures.

Responsibilities
  1. Work independently or in a team, demonstrating strong communication and interpersonal skills. Be creative, organized, analytical, flexible, and open to new methods and technologies. Tolerate ambiguity, initiate improvements, be customer-oriented, and demonstrate integrity.
  2. Read and interpret mechanical and electrical blueprints, hydraulic assembly drawings, wiring harnesses, and control schematics.
  3. Identify root causes of issues and perform equipment repairs.
  4. Mentor and coach apprentices, technicians, and peers on technical procedures.
  5. Troubleshoot malfunctioning machine components and systems.
  6. Inspect and report on mobile equipment.
  7. Follow written work instructions, manuals, and engineering drawings.
  8. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
  1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
  2. Red Seal Certificate as a Heavy-Duty Mechanic or Truck and Coach.
  3. Minimum of 5 years' experience as a skilled Red Seal mechanic preferred.
  4. Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with hands-on experience in mobile mining equipment diagnostics.
  5. Experience repairing mining equipment; familiarity with our fleet is a plus.
  6. Excellent communication skills and ability to build positive relationships.
  7. Knowledge of safe rigging practices.
  8. Computer literacy and familiarity with Microsoft Office.
