Job summary

CIBC is seeking an Associate for its Real Estate Corporate Banking team in Toronto. You will work with Relationship Managers to analyze real estate clients and support lending decisions across office, retail, residential and industrial sectors.

You’ll gain experience in loan underwriting, credit analysis, and portfolio management while collaborating with risk partners and internal teams to deliver structured financial solutions to Canadian REITs, pension funds, and private equity clients.

Qualifications

• 0–2 years of relevant finance, real estate, lending or related fields.
• Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
• Team player with the ability to work well within a group setting.
• Strong client and relationship management skills.
• Experience with financial statements and accounting principles to assess lending risk.

Responsibilities

• Conduct in-depth company, industry, and portfolio analysis and assist in risk assessments for credit arrangements.
• Build financial models focused on credit analysis and risk rating.
• Present deal structuring options to senior management in collaboration with risk partners.
• Support business development by assessing client needs and preparing proposals and information memoranda.
• Assist end-to-end loan processing and portfolio management tasks, including accounts and cash management reviews.
