About the Limestone District School Board

The Limestone District School Board (LDSB) is situated on the traditional territories of the Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee. The LDSB is the region's only fully inclusive school board. Limestone schools serve more than 20,500 students in 55 schools and five alternative education centres covering a geographic area of 7,719 square kilometres across the City of Kingston, the Townships of Central Frontenac, North Frontenac, South Frontenac, Addington Highlands, Loyalist, Stone Mills, the Frontenac Islands and the Town of Greater Napanee.

Position Overview

Working in collaboration with the Program Manager, the Office Assistant will provide support by developing knowledge and skills in all office functions and to perform a variety of clerical tasks prior to the program start date. During the Read-a-Lot Summer Literacy Program session, the Office Assistant will support with paperwork, contacting families, and ordering supplies during the first week. The 2025 Read-a-Lot Summer Literacy Program will be offered July 7th to July 25th, 2025. Office assistant hours will be coordinated by the Program manager totaling no more than 7 hours a week for 25 days between May 1st and July 31st, 2025.

General Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

  • Distribute and facilitate staff contracts and pay sheets
  • Support the student online registration process
  • Liaise between parents and schools to confirm registration applications
  • Manage class lists, create information tracking spreadsheets
  • Ordering supplies and photocopying
  • Collect, sort, and email Progress Report to home schools

Experience, Knowledge & Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in post-secondary studies and are considering an education-related career
  • Willingness to learn, seek and apply feedback to improve practice
  • Shows initiative, excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility and the ability to problem solve
  • Can provide their own transportation (mileage not covered by LDSB)
