Job summary

Redpath Sugar Ltd is seeking an engineer technologist in Toronto to lead improvements in manufacturing processes, ensuring efficiency and quality. The ideal candidate will have a B.S. degree, at least 5 years of experience, and a strong background in continuous improvement methodologies.

Responsibilities include collaborating with operational teams to troubleshoot issues, implement changes, and enhance productivity. Salary ranges from $100,500 to $140,000, depending on qualifications.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in Process engineering technology, Process development, quality engineering, or manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated ability to select and apply sound engineering practices for high volume products.
  • Strong background in Lean Manufacturing and 6 Sigma.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and implement improvements in process equipment throughput, quality, safety and efficiency.
  • Trains operators and maintenance staff on new procedures and operating systems.
  • Coordinate arrival and offloading of raw sugar vessels.

Overview

You are an engineer echnologist with leadership experience in a fast-paced, complex manufacturing operation. You have a proven track record and a strong mechanical aptitude, excellent analytical thinking and problem solving skills and a drive for continuous improvement. You enjoy a challenge and have the energy and vision to recognize and implement improvement opportunities both independently and as part of a team with members of all levels of an organization.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities
  • Accountable identifying and implementing improvements in Process equipment throughput, quality, safety and efficiency
  • Working closely with operational personnel to understand problems, perform troubleshooting and develop solutions together
  • Use strong continuous improvement skills to enhance system reliability and identify/implement productivity and cost improvements including new technologies.
  • Develop and improve procedures and instructions to maximize Bulk and Liquid loading production scheduling and overall loading operations up to and including process aid consumption
  • Coordinate arrival and offloading of raw sugar vessels, track downtime and implement actions to improve efficiency
  • Show thorough understanding of the interactions between machine, materials, methods, environment, and people to provide robust operating systems.
  • Provide key technical support in capital projects and new product and Process equipment testing/start-ups. Ensure safety and quality aspects of the equipment meets company requirements
  • Provide documentation, operator and maintenance training and support.
  • Design and develop capital projects for new equipment installation when applicable
  • Partner with the engineering team to ensure all preventive maintenance is done on a timely and consistent manner
  • Other duties as assigned
Required Skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Recognized technical abilities and practical experience with strong capabilities in the following areas:
    • Theory/functionality of manufacturing systems and unit operations; Continuous improvement; Statistics and analytical methods; Process measurement and control; Mechanical aptitude; Troubleshooting; Ability to understand and apply general engineering principles
  • Manage multiple projects with overlapping tasks and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to lead diverse teams to challenge the status quo to achieve operational improvements
  • Demonstrated ability to identify problems, develops solutions, and quickly implements their strategy.
  • Proficient skills specifically in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook are required.
  • Fundamental understanding of food standards, safety and sanitary regulations and good manufacturing practices.
Educational & Experience
  • B.S. degree (or technology diploma) in Engineering, Process Science or related field from an accredited college/university.
  • 5+ years of experience in Process engineering echnology, Process development, quality engineering, or manufacturing.
  • A demonstrated ability to select and apply sound engineering practices and principles to the design and development of high volume consumer products Process.
  • Strong background and proven results in Leading Continuous Improvement efforts through the application of Lean Manufacturing and 6 Sigma Activities.
Supervisory Responsibility
  • Shared responsibility to oversee department of approximately 20 hourly associates within a unionized facility.
Recruitment Process

Salary Range/Compensation
  • $100,500 to $140,000
