The project:
The Yonge North Subway Extension will transform the commute in York Region, North York and beyond by extending the TTC’s Line 1 service north from Finch Station to Vaughan, Markham and Richmond Hill. The project includes five stations along an extension of roughly eight kilometres. The MCS team is partnering with Metrolinx to deliver the Yonge North Subway Extension.
Reporting to the Delivery Director for Surface Facilities, the Project Manager will manage the design and construction of related projects within CN and GO rail corridors.

You will manage delivery from project inception/brief, through design development and planning, contractor procurement and construction phase in accordance with the overall delivery program and agreed project milestones.
You will manage tasks and associated deliverables in support of the Associate Director and other senior leaders, alongside the wider project and client teams, to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of the project.
Foster positive culture and works collaboratively with the client’s business units, operational divisions and various internal and external stakeholders and communicates effectively with the client PDT, Technical Advisors, and third parties
Support the scope definition, development, and implementation phases of the project
Manage consultant’s tasks, work plans and performances with respect to the Reference Concept Design and technical documentation preparation such as PSOS
Assist the Senior Project Manager in directing and leading the TA (Technical Advisor) developing Project Agreement Documents for the Progressive Design Build (PDB) Contract(s), through all stages and phases of the project and in engagement and interface with third party stakeholders such as municipalities and transit agencies
Manage flagging procedures and coordinate construction activities to CN and GO rail corridors; perform site visits as required to coordinate work onsite
Prepare construction plans, agreements, and memorandum of understanding as required
Manage project progress, analyses current and future work activities to identify deficiencies and opportunities for efficiencies; recommends and implements solutions
Monitor project safety to mitigate risk, ensure compliance with policies and procedures, and initiate improvements, resolutions and preventative measures
Oversee consultant and contractor scope and quality of work, identify existing and potential issues, and initiate corrective action to avoid serious project delays or budget impacts; determine what requires escalation and initiates appropriate action
Manage project scope and change orders including negotiating, processing and analyzing cost and schedule impacts
Identify issues, risks and problems; collaborate with Senior Project Manager Managers and Directors to ensure corrective action is implemented

You’ll need to have:
Minimum of 8 years of experience in Project Management
Demonstrated Experience in project construction management roles within heavy rail, heavy civil, and/or subways projects. With knowledge of construction, engineering, and finances
Significant experience with heavy rail design and construction within CN and GO rail corridors; extensive working knowledge of CROR and flagging procedures
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline
Holding a recognized Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
Experience working in a Collaborative environment to create a high-performing work culture is strongly desired
Experience in Progressive Contract Delivery Model (Progressive Design-Build and Alliance), DBB, and P3 is an asset
Knowledge of construction management practices and principles including familiarity with claims management is an asset
Prior experience with municipalities and transit agencies is an asset
Prior experience with any aspect of design, construction and commissioning of multi-disciplinary transit projects is an asset
Advanced skills in Microsoft Office
Proficient in Project Management software
Thorough understanding of prevailing Project Management methods
Expert knowledge of tools and metrics needed to evaluate project performance
Strong ability to identify and minimize risks in advance
Capability to detect, capitalize, and be sensitive to others' strengths
Strong supervision, delegation, and capacity development abilities
Detailed experience in effectively leading mid-sized multi-disciplinary project teams
Competent to perceive and ameliorate conflict and tension
Ability to arrange priorities and escalate competing risks to meet deadlines with minimum input from leadership
Keen eye for detail and adept problem-solving abilities
Must have demonstrated experience relaying and receiving information (written and verbal)
Expert ability to work collaboratively and independently in a structured, disciplined, technology-driven environment
You’ll also have:
Membership of RICS, CIOB, APM, ICE or equivalent demonstrable professional or personal development.
Property or infrastructure project management expertise.
Commercial and financial acumen.
Experience of leading parts of projects within large, diverse teams.
Experience of developing and forming relationships with senior stakeholders.
Knowledge of how carbon and sustainability considerations will shape the outlook of the projects you are working on
