Job summary

Moody’s Ratings and Research Support (RRS) Intern position offers current students an opportunity to develop skills valuable to any future career in the financial services industry. The role is internally facing, reporting to a Team Manager, and requires part‑time commitment (20 hours per week) for 12 months starting in 2027.

Interns will complete project work with real impact, gain insights into diverse career paths, and build a comprehensive understanding of Moody's.

Qualifications

• Good accounting or statistics background preferred (e.g., through coursework, CFA or equivalent may be required for some teams)
• Interest in fixed income markets, credit analysis, financial markets, or related research preferred
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data, identify key insights, and communicate findings clearly through coursework, projects, or prior experience
• Proficient in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage workflow, adapt to changing priorities, and prioritize tasks accordingly
• Proactive with the ability to work independently and effectively in a team environment
• Exposure to data analysis or visualization tools, such as PowerBI, Tableau, KNIME, Alteryx, or similar platforms, preferred
• Some familiarity with Python, SQL, or other programming/data tools a plus
• Basic understanding of artificial intelligence concepts, with curiosity and enthusiasm for learning how AI tools, automation, and data analytics can improve processes and drive efficiency; interest in responsible AI practices, including risk management and ethical use
• Relevant coursework, academic projects, prior internship, or other hands‑on experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Supporting Analytical teams as needed. Examples of analytical work may include:
• Participate in case studies designed to further analytical understanding
• Work on various analytical, research, data, process related projects
• Collect data and identify trends to support well‑thought‑out credit conclusions
• Prepare financial documents, charts, and presentations
• Responsible for monitoring media outlets for news regarding special projects or portfolios
• Provide analytical and research support to the rating teams
• Contribute to the creation of high‑quality research publications
