Job summary

Perimeter Aviation LP in Canada is seeking a Ramp Agent responsible for sorting, loading and unloading baggage, freight and equipment from company aircraft, with a focus on on-time performance and customer service. You will operate the ramp safely, assist flight crews, maintain airside areas, and work as part of a team in varying weather and shift conditions.

A valid driver's license and aviation-related permits may be required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must possess valid driver’s license.
  • Must qualify for and obtain Airside Vehicle Operator’s Permit.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain transportation security clearances.
  • Previous warehouse and/or Ramp experience is an asset.
  • Previous aviation operation experience is an asset.
  • Indigenous and Cultural Awareness Training is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Sort, load and unload baggage, freight and equipment.
  • Tow and marshall aircraft, drive and fuel equipment, de-ice aircraft, service aircraft lavatories.
  • Ensure airside areas are organized and clean.
  • Perform physically demanding tasks safely and efficiently.
  • Ensure on-time performance policies are met and adhered to.
  • Communicate with Ramp Agents, Ramp Supervisor and Load Coordinator to meet deadlines.
  • Monitor customer safety and assist customers in a courteous manner.
  • Provide ramp setup and storage of equipment and baggage.
  • Complete general warehouse duties including manifests, shipping/receiving, and forklift operation.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Ramp Operations the Ramp Agent is responsible for the sorting, loading and unloading of baggage, freight and equipment out of Company aircraft, focusing on the Service Level agreement to ensure that customer service is met along with on-time performance.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities


  • Sort, load and unload baggage, freight and equipment

  • Tow and marshall aircraft, drive and fuel equipment, de-ice aircraft, install and uninstall aircraft seats and equipment, service aircraft lavatories, ensure that airside areas are organized and clean

  • Perform physically-demanding tasks effectively using the safest and most efficient methods possible

  • Ensure that on time performance policies and procedures are met and adhered to

  • Ensure that customer service standards are met or exceeded

  • Communicate effectively with other Ramp Agents, the Ramp Supervisor and the Aircraft Load Coordinator to meet deadlines safely and efficiently

  • Monitor customer safety at all times and assist customers in a friendly and courteous manner

  • Adhere to and operate within safety policies, procedures and practices, attending and completing all safety training

  • Provide courteous, prompt, accurate and careful handling of customer baggage, airfreight (continuous lifting, loading/unloading, sorting and transfer of baggage and freight)

  • Assist Flight Crew with off-loads at various aircraft destinations as assigned

  • Provide assistance with ramp set-up and storage of equipment and baggage

  • Complete general warehouse duties, which may include but not limited to completing and verifying manifests, shipping and receiving, customer services, organizing fridge and freezers, cleaning and organizing the warehouse, operating forklifts, etc.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned



Minimum Education, Experience and Certifications


  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) equivalent

  • Must possess valid driver’s license

  • Must qualify for and obtain an Airside Vehicle Operator’s Permit

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain any applicable transportation security clearances and additional authorizations

  • Previous warehouse and/or Ramp experience is considered an asset

  • Previous aviation operation experience is considered an asset

  • Forklift license or completed applicable training considered an asset

  • Indigenous and Cultural Awareness Training considered an asset



Working Conditions


  • Physically able to perform all listed job duties

  • Travel by aircraft and other means as required by role

  • Work performed in multiple environments, contact with staff and the general public

  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and telephones

  • Work performed both indoors and outdoors; employee must be able to adapt to all outdoor weather conditions

  • Various shifts and at a fast pace in order to meet service level requirements of the airline

  • In good general health and able to lift and bend, carrying loads of up to 50lbs

  • Safety equipment when and where required, e.g. hearing protection, safety vest, and applicable passes
