Procor manages Canada's largest private tank car lease fleet and operates an extensive repair network across the country. Our fleet includes over 30,500 specialized tank and freight cars. We also operate 28 repair locations serving the petroleum, petrochemicals, plastics, chemicals, fertilizers, and food markets.
Job Summary
The principal duties in this position include car repairs such as:
- Cutting and welding (SMAW) on the rail body, including tanks and hoppers, and other components
- Air Arc Gouging
- Confined space entry
- Light to medium-duty mechanical repairs on rail cars
- Working at heights
- Reading, understanding, and following repair orders, procedures, and blueprints
- Adhering to health and safety standards, including the Responsible Care Policy
- Primarily working outdoors
- Performing other related duties as assigned
Requirements
- Previous railcar repair experience and knowledge of AAR standards are assets
- Ability to perform all necessary repairs on railcars and their components
- Depending on the site: Experience with torch cutting and stick welding (SMAW), including understanding of equipment and safety inspection
- Must be able to pass an in-house weld test (e.g., 7018 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G) and other welds as necessary
- Competent and safe use of hand tools and power equipment
- Ability to perform and document quality control checks according to company standards
- Ability to read and understand work orders and safety data sheets
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions with exposure to dust, fumes, and noise
- Physical ability to climb, stoop, bend, and carry tools
- Adherence to health and safety standards, including wearing PPE such as respirators, hearing and eye protection, steel-toed boots, and fall protection
- Comfort working at heights, in confined spaces, around machinery, and in loud, fume-filled environments
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality
- Ability to complete tasks efficiently and safely
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Successful completion of our full medical testing upon hire
