Job description

Procor Limited manages Canada’s largest private tank car lease fleet and operates an extensive repair network across the country. Our fleet has grown to include more than 30,500 special purpose tank and freight cars. Procor also operates 28 repair locations servicing the petroleum, petrochemicals, plastics, chemicals, fertilizers, and food markets.

The Railcar Helper will perform work on various rail car types, working inside, outside, on top of, and underneath the cars.

• Assist in preparing rail cars for repair
• Adhere to health and safety standards, including the Responsible Care Policy
• Read, comprehend, and follow repair orders and procedures
• Perform other related duties as assigned

The work schedule is Monday to Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., subject to change based on business needs.

Competencies:

• Welding experience is an asset
• Safe and competent use of shop tools and equipment: cranes, electric/pneumatic/hydraulic tools, and hand tools
• Railcar repair experience is an asset
• Detail-oriented and able to work independently
• Strong initiative and effective communication and organization skills
• Adherence to health and safety standards, including PPE requirements

Requirements:

• Legally entitled to work in Canada
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Previous railcar repair experience and knowledge of AAR standards are assets
• Ability to perform all necessary repairs of railcars and components
• Experience with torch cutting and stick welding (SMAW), including passing in-house weld tests (e.g., 7018 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G)
• Safe use of hand tools and power equipment
• Ability to read work orders and safety data sheets
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, in confined spaces, and at heights
• Comfortable working around machinery, with loud noises and fumes
• Ability to work independently and in a team
• Attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Completion and passing of full medical testing upon hire
