Job Title : Rail Equipment Maintenance Operator

Department : Operations

Reports to : Assistant Manager, Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent

In this hands-on, physically demanding role, we provide full training for motivated individuals with backgrounds in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, or heavy equipment operation. What You'll Do :

  • Operate and maintain Loram’s rail maintenance equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Perform mechanical, electrical, hydraulic maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs.
  • Collaborate with teammates to ensure optimal equipment performance and safety compliance.
  • Communicate effectively via radio, in-person, and written methods.
  • Follow FRA, OSHA, and Loram safety protocols.
  • Participate in training to enhance skills and career growth.

Required Qualifications :

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to enter the U.S. for training (passport required)
  • No prior rail experience needed; training provided
  • Strong teamwork, communication, problem-solving skills
  • Positive attitude, work ethic, eagerness to learn
  • Commitment to safety and standards
  • Proficient in English, verbal and written

What to Expect :

  • Frequent travel, including international, via any transportation method.
  • Rotational assignments (6–8 weeks), long workdays (12+ hours).
  • Physically demanding outdoor work in all weather.
  • Walking, climbing, lifting 75+ lbs, working in confined spaces or at heights.
  • Develop practical, in-demand skills through unique challenges.

Physical Requirements :

This safety-sensitive role requires the ability to walk 5–9 miles daily on uneven terrain, climb ladders, lift tools/equipment over 75 lbs, and meet vision/hearing standards. Reasonable accommodations may be provided for disabilities. Loram does not sponsor work visas.
