Job description

Position: Computed Tomography Technologist

The Computed Tomography Technologist is involved in hands-on patient care, managing room workflow, and facilitating patient care in conjunction with the Computed Tomography Supervisor.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Facilitates Computed Tomography examinations for all patients under general supervision, following established procedures and protocols.
  2. Checks for contrast allergies and contraindications for all patients.
  3. Verifies accuracy of protocols prior to exams.
  4. Adheres to policies and procedures for daily operations.
  5. Works with the Supervisor to maintain imaging standards.
  6. Participates in research and development of new exams and protocols.
  7. Enters charges accurately in EMR for all exams.
  8. Ensures high-quality exams are available for interpretation in a timely manner.
  9. Follows workflow plans and alerts the supervisor to issues.
  10. Recommends protocol changes to improve quality and patient care.
  11. Participates in quality assurance for the CT program.
  12. Monitors equipment performance and coordinates repairs.
  13. Performs equipment QC and maintains competency on injectors and POCT devices.
  14. Communicates effectively with staff and vendors.
  15. Performs other duties as needed for department operation and patient care.
Qualifications:
  • Graduated from an approved Radiologic Sciences program.
  • Massachusetts Department of Public Health licensure for Radiologic Technologist and CT.
  • ARRT registry in Radiologic Sciences and Computed Tomography.
  • BCLS certification.
  • Minimum 1 year of clinical experience preferred.
  • Adheres to I.C.A.R.E. Standards.
  • Ability to produce high-quality radiographic studies efficiently.
  • Ability to multitask and think proactively.
Working Conditions:
  • Work in noisy environments with temperature and humidity variations.
  • Exposure to ionizing radiation with safety practices.
  • Continuous standing, sitting, and lifting.
  • Exposure to human waste and disease.
  • Ability to lift over 25 pounds; may require up to 100 pounds of force for patient support and equipment movement.
  • Stress from interactions with staff, patients, and families with serious medical conditions.
