Job Summary

We are hiring for Relief Part Time Radiological Technologist at Chilliwack General Hospital. This role involves diagnostic radiographic, fluoroscopic, and medical imaging procedures, ensuring radiation safety, patient care, and compliance with department standards.

Certification with the CAMRT.

Detailed Overview

Reporting to the Supervisor, Radiological Technology and the Site Coordinator, Medical Imaging, the Radiological Technologist practices in accordance with professional standards and a client and family centered care model.

The responsibilities include diagnostic imaging procedures, equipment operation, documentation, quality control, patient education, and participation in quality improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Perform all general duty radiographic/fluoroscopic procedures consistent with established standards and protocols.
  • Operate radiographic and computerized imaging equipment, ensuring proper image acquisition and adherence to radiation protection practices.
  • Complete procedures, label and archive images, and review technical quality, referring any issues to the supervisor.
  • Explain procedures and provide instructions to patients or clients, answering questions as needed.
  • Ensure relevant clinical data is collected and recorded in the Radiology Information System (RIS) and PACS.
  • Prepare contrast agents, assemble tray set‑ups, and dispose or clean instruments according to hospital policy.
  • Monitor patient care and safety, ensuring compliance with department standards and policies.
  • Assist in quality improvement and risk management processes, including quality assurance checks and audits.
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance and quality control tests, arranging repairs when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and perform clerical duties related to demographics and histories.
  • Support instruction of employees and students through orientations, presentations, and procedure demonstrations.
  • Participate in approved research and special projects in collaboration with the supervisor and other health care professionals.
  • Contribute to Continuous Quality Improvement/LEAN programs, performing monitoring and auditing methodologies.
  • Report unsafe situations immediately to the supervisor or appropriate personnel.
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Certification with the CAMRT.
  • Knowledge and practice of safe work procedures with diagnostic radiographic and medical imaging equipment.
  • Ability to perform radiographic examinations in compliance with departmental standards.
  • Knowledge of evidence‑based practice related to the designated modality.
  • Knowledge of organizational policies, procedures, and standards of care.
  • Knowledge of research process and methodology.
  • Knowledge of PACS/Radiology Information Systems, including image archiving and retrieval.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written) with clients, families, and health care staff.
  • Proficiency operating related equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, establishing workload priorities.
  • Proficiency in CPR techniques.
  • Computer skills, including use of a computerized client care information system.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
