Job description

Job Description: Radiological Technologist

In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health), patient & staff safety is a priority and a shared responsibility. The continuous improvement of quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

The Radiological Technologist works in a computerized environment, producing diagnostic radiographs as assigned and carrying out diagnostic procedures independently or in collaboration with a radiologist or other physician. They apply radiation safety principles to protect patients, staff, and the public, and complete all required documentation and administrative tasks.

Qualifications: Education, Training, and Experience
  • Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) certification as a Medical Radiation Technologist.
  • Graduation from an approved radiology technology program.
  • Eligibility for membership in the CAMRT.
Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Physical capability to meet the job requirements.
  • Proficiency in operating related equipment, such as computers.
