Job summary

Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a Radiological Technologist for General Imaging in the Northern Zone at Colchester East Hants Health Centre. The role requires delivering patient-centered care while operating radiological equipment with independence and judgement.

Travel between sites may be required. The position is permanent part-time (37.5 hours biweekly) with evenings, nights, weekends and holiday coverage.

Qualifications

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited School of Radiological Technology.
  • Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) certification.
  • Nova Scotia Regulator of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (NSRMIRT) licensure.
  • Previous experience is an asset.
  • Qualification to work in more than one Diagnostic Imaging modality is an asset.
  • Basic Life Support Certification.
  • Ability to use time effectively by organizing and prioritizing duties, while working independently and under minimal supervision.
  • Possess the physical capabilities to perform the duties of the position.
  • Demonstrates initiative, organizational and prioritizing skills; and the demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within inter-professional teams.
  • Comprehension of the technical language to review manuals and participate in relevant discussions.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic or therapeutic procedures using ionizing radiation according to ALARA principles.
  • Maintain safety and effective communication within a multidisciplinary team.

About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager of Diagnostic Imaging, the Radiological Technologist is responsible for the delivery of patient centered care while operating radiological/accessory equipment with minimal supervision while exercising independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative. The Radiological Technologist performs a variety of diagnostic or therapeutic procedures requiring the use of ionizing radiation, applying the ALARA principle, while continuously remaining responsive to and responsible for each patient in their care. The Radiological Technologist is responsible for effective communication in a multidisciplinary/interdisciplinary environment while fostering a culture of safety in the workplace.

Travel to other sites may be required.

Hours
  • Permanent part-time position; 37.5 hours biweekly
  • Call back, stand by, and shift work required, including evenings, nights, weekends and holiday coverage
Compensation and Benefits

$34.78 - $44.49 hourly
