Your role

We are looking for a Producer for the morning radio show Toujours le matin , airing on ICI Première in Trois-Rivières.

In this role, we are seeking someone with confident, positive, and collaborative leadership skills, who builds and maintains strong interpersonal relationships.

The selected candidate will have excellent editorial judgment, strong creativity and autonomy, as well as a solid knowledge of and interest in regional issues specific to the Mauricie and Centre-du-Québec regions.

The successful applicant must be able to identify show elements that will foster public conversation. He or she must recognize, understand, and know how to leverage the potential of digital platforms to showcase their show.

You will ensure that all work complies with Radio-Canada’s Journalistic Standards and Practices. At the same time, you'll have the latitude to demonstrate initiative, independent judgment, and creativity. As a motivating force, you’ll regularly be called upon to guide and coordinate the work of other team members.

You bring fresh ideas to create the high-quality programming Canadians expect from us. You think outside the box and are always on the lookout for new ways to create content that is distinctive, smart, and innovative.

You will report to the Regional News Director for Radio-Canada in Mauricie–Centre-du-Québec.

More Specifically, The Candidate Will

  • Collaborate with management to develop programming objectives and ensure they are met.
  • Define the style, pace, structure, and format of the show.
  • Plan, design, organize, and develop the production and direction of the morning radio show, highlighting the richness and diversity of the communities served, while staying informed on current events in Québec, Canada, and the world.
  • Develop content for the show, including topic selection, research, scripting, and / or editing.
  • Assign, coordinate, and supervise the work of team members contributing to the show or show segments.
  • Commission texts or research as needed.
  • In collaboration with regional management, plan and request the financial and operational resources needed for production, including creative personnel, equipment, and facilities.
  • Evaluate all aspects of the programming and production staff’s work, as well as that of freelance contributors.
  • Collaborate with producers / directors of other shows.
  • Ensure compliance with Radio-Canada’s Journalistic Standards and Practices and copyright regulations.
  • Select and suggest segments of the show for digital platforms to increase reach and audience engagement.

Profile Sought

  • University degree or equivalent in journalism, communications, political science, or related fields
  • Five (5) years of relevant experience, including at least three (3) in broadcasting or related fields, with direct ties to programming or show direction
  • Strong, positive, and collaborative leadership skills
  • Genuine commitment to upholding and promoting a respectful, diverse, and inclusive workplace culture
  • Knowledge of Radio-Canada’s mandate, programming policies, and Journalistic Standards and Practices
  • Excellent understanding of issues and events specific to Mauricie and Centre-du-Québec
  • Excellent editorial judgment
  • Strong knowledge of local, national, and international current affairs
  • Active user of social media and solid understanding of the digital landscape
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • Initiative and resourcefulness
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet tight deadlines under pressure
  • Bilingualism (French / English) is an asset
  • Ability to go on air is also an asset
