Job summary

Radical Ventures is hiring an AI Product Engineer in Toronto to build AI-native applications and robust backend systems. You will own high-impact projects end-to-end, spanning data infrastructure and product tooling, with a focus on scalable software powering AI-first decisions.

Role requires 4+ years in software engineering, strong backend (Python/Java/Go) and frontend (TypeScript/React), API design, and experience with LLM-powered apps and modern cloud tooling.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating production systems.
• Strong full-stack engineering skills with backend (Python, Java, Go) and modern web apps (TypeScript, React).
• Experience designing APIs, relational databases, and data pipelines.
• Experience building production applications powered by LLMs, including prompt engineering and evaluation.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work with non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a fast-moving environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy AI-powered applications end-to-end to support investment workflows and internal operations.
• Prototype and refine tools leveraging LLMs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Hugging Face, LangChain).
• Design and engineer robust backend systems, APIs, data pipelines, and integrations across data sources.
• Experiment with advanced LLM application patterns, including agentic workflows and model composition.
• Build reusable platform components, developer tooling, and infrastructure to accelerate product development.
• Collaborate with investment and operations teams to translate business needs into scalable software solutions.
• Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code ensuring security, reliability, and performance.
• Champion engineering quality through testing, observability, and thoughtful system design.

The Role

We are seeking an AI Product Engineer with a passion for building AI-native applications,
designing and shipping tools from 0→1, and turning ideas into production-ready systems.
This is a unique opportunity to join Radical and own high-impact projects end-to-end.
While this role spans the full stack, there is a particular emphasis on building robust backend
systems, data infrastructure, and the engineering foundations that power AI-native products.

You will design and deploy tools that:

• Provide insights into portfolio and market dynamics

• Enhance sourcing, diligence, and investment decision-making

• Automate workflows and create intelligent systems that improve operational leverage

This role is ideal for an entrepreneurial engineer, who thrives in fast-paced environments,
and enjoys designing, building, and shipping AI-native products end-to-end. You'll be equally
comfortable building polished user experiences and designing scalable backend systems,
data infrastructure, and AI-powered services.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy AI-powered applications end-to-end to support investment
  workflows and internal operations

• Prototype and refine tools leveraging LLMs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, Hugging Face,
  LangChain)

• Design and engineer robust backend systems, APIs, data pipelines, and integrations
  across internal and external data sources

• Experiment with advanced LLM application patterns, including agentic workflows,
  function calling, model composition, and evaluation frameworks

• Build reusable platform components, developer tooling, and infrastructure that
  accelerate product development across the team

• Collaborate with investment and operations teams to translate business needs into
  scalable software solutions

• Write clean, maintainable, well-tested, and well-documented code while ensuring
  security, reliability, and performance

• Champion engineering quality through testing, observability, thoughtful system
  design, and code reviews

Required

  fast-moving environment
