Salary or Pay Band: Pay Band 6, $46.886 to $53.579 (5 step range)

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:

The Radiation Therapist I is responsible for preparing, planning and delivering accurate and precise ionizing radiation treatments to cancer patients according to the prescription of a Radiation Oncologist. The Radiation Therapist I reports to the Provincial Leader or Site Manager of Radiation Therapy with daily work functions supervised by a Radiation Therapist II.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
  1. Bachelor Degree/Diploma in Radiation Therapy
  2. Certification for Basic Life Saver (BLS)-C
Memberships:
  1. Licensed with Saskatchewan Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (SAMRT)
  2. Membership with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT)
Experience:
  1. No previous experience
Skills:
  1. Proficiency with a variety of computer systems and software applications.
  2. Ability to perform a range of Radiation Therapy methods and processes including treatment planning, simulation and treatment.
  3. Moderate judgment and problem solving skills are required to select the most appropriate action from a variety of alternatives.
  4. Ability to interpret detailed information and communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  5. Human relations skills are required to develop formal relationships of a therapeutic nature to assist others in achieving their short or long term goals.
  6. Accuracy of fine motor movements required for operating treatment unit controls, tattooing patients, and data entry.
  7. Maintain confidentiality.
  8. Knowledge of culturally responsive care for First Nations and Métis people.
