BC Cancer - Surrey Centre
Location: Surrey, BC
Position: Permanent Full Time (2+ positions, 1.0 FTE each)
BC Cancer - Surrey is a full-service academic cancer center in the western Fraser Valley. We seek permanent radiation oncologists to join our team of 17 Radiation Oncologists, 3 part-time General Practitioners in Oncology, and a full-time nurse practitioner, working within the provincial Radiation Therapy program at BC Cancer.
Surrey, located approximately 30 km southeast of Vancouver, is a diverse, rapidly growing community with families, universities, and a vibrant urban center.
Our department features 5 linear accelerators and an orthovoltage unit. We treat all tumor sites, offering comprehensive Stereotactic services including SRS, thoracic, liver/abdomen, spine, and GU stereotactic teams. We provide SABR treatments for primary cancers and oligometastatic/oligoprogressive disease. Prostate and Gynecologic brachytherapy are planned on-site and delivered at the Abbotsford center, about 35 km away.
The department has an active academic program. The successful candidate will deliver excellent patient care, participate in teaching medical students and residents, and engage in clinical research. We offer robust multidisciplinary clinical trials and research opportunities through collaborations with Surrey Memorial Hospital, UBC, SFU, and provincial projects via BC Cancer tumor groups and outcomes units. Career development opportunities include education and quality improvement projects.
We have multiple positions available, with negotiable disease site coverage for suitable candidates. We seek collegial individuals who work well with our team. The successful applicant will be recommended for a clinical appointment with the Division of Radiation Oncology, Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine at UBC, with privileges through the Provincial Health Services Authority and Surrey Memorial Hospital.
Applicants must be eligible for licensure in BC, have obtained a Fellowship in Radiation Oncology from the RCPSC or an equivalent qualification by the appointment date, and meet BC Cancer and Surrey Memorial Hospital medical staff requirements.
