Job summary

ABB zoekt een ervaren ingenieur voor technologie- en productontwikkeling in R&D. U identificeert en implementeert vernieuwende oplossingen en werkt zowel zelfstandig als in een R&D-team. De rol is onsite en rapporteert aan de Chapter Lead.

Qualifications

• BS of MSc in werktuigbouw/elektrotechniek met minimum 2/5 jaar R&D-ervaring
• Goede actieve leergierigheid en zelfstart
• Begrip van laagspanningscomponenten en normen en toepassing in productontwerp
• Kennis van materialen (plastic en metaal) en gerelateerde productieverwerking
• CAD-vaardigheden: AutoCAD, Creo en MS Office
• Kennis van simulaties zoals structuur en thermisch
• Toepassen van simulaties in het ontwerp
• Engelse lees- en schrijffervaring
• Goede communicatie en teamwork
• Ervaring met R&D bij buitenlandse ondernemingen of multinationalen is gewenst
• Ervaring met Agile werkmethoden gewenst

Responsibilities

• Bijdragen aan technologie-, software-, product- en systeemontwikkeling voor ABB’s R&D-projecten
• Identificeren en implementeren van innovatieve oplossingen
• Ondersteunen bij het leveren van deskundigheid zowel zelfstandig als in een R&D-team
• Draagt zorg voor projectafstemming op tijd, kosten en kwaliteit
• Zorg voor state-of-the-art kennis en documenten zoals technische rapporten
• Ondersteunen van netwerk- en IP-discussies en projectafhandeling
• Samenwerken in multidisciplinaire teams en kennis delen

Your role and responsibilities (Mandatory)

In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to ABB’s success with technology, software, product, and system development. Each day, you will identify and implement innovative solutions to relevant problems. You will also showcase your expertise by providing ideas and by being able to work both independently and as a part of a Research & Development (R&D) team.

The work model for the role is: onsite

This role is contributing to the ELSP - AUINP in Jiangmen. Main stakeholders are Electromechanical Modules. You will be mainly accountable for:

• Demonstrates solid technical proficiency in own competence area by performing a variety of technology/engineering assignments, mainly in research and development (R&D) Breaker, Switch and Accessories projects, which demonstrates independent ability to recognize problems and provide input to solutions. Actively follows the scientific discussions in own competence area and contributes independently.
• Understands the key business drivers and customers’ requirements for ABB in order to make judgments and contribute to results.
• Contributes to R&D projects with own, creative ideas. Proposes follow-up projects and activities within own technical area based on new ideas.
• As a solid R&D project member and contributor, with experience as project or sub-project leader, ensures alignment with assigned targets (time, cost, quality) and coordinates activities. Demonstrates sound understanding of, and actively applies, R&D processes and tools.
• Maintains awareness of state-of-art technology, as well as ABB products and technologies, and identifies and understands technical drivers for R&D projects in own area. Understands what creates customer value in own R&D projects and project portfolio of own organization and works to improve operations and increase customer satisfaction according to incoming requests. Provides consulting services to business operations and customers.
• Participates constructively in working teams. Shares own technical/scientific knowledge in own projects and supports colleagues in applying processes and tools to ensure timely and high quality results. Shows solid documentation skills and writes technical reports independently.
• Participates in networks in own area, including relevant Engineering networks, in order to further knowledge in targeted area of expertise.
• Has a basic understanding of the importance of IP for the ABB business, contributes to IP discussions and develops project clearance reports. Identifies risks in R&D projects.

Qualifications for the role (Mandatory)

• BS in mechanical/electrical engineering with min. 5 years’ experience or MSc in mechanical/electrical engineering with minimum 2 years’ experience in R&D
• Good active learning ability and self-drive.
• Understand low-voltage electrical components and standards and their application in product design.
• Familiar with the commonly used engineering materials: plastic and metallic and related manufacturing / processingProficient in CAD, e.g. AutoCAD, Creo, and MS office.
• Knows the simulations such as structure and thermal, etc.
• Apply the simulations in the designCapable of reading and express technical solutions in English
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Foreign enterprises R&D or Multinational teamwork experience is preferred.
• Agile work way experience is preferred.
