ABOUT US :

At New School Foods, our mission is to accelerate the transition to a sustainable food system. Using proprietary and purpose-built production technologies, we are creating the next generation of meat and seafood alternatives designed to appeal to the average consumer. Our first product is a delicious plant-based filet that looks, cooks, tastes, and flakes like salmon, is full of Omega 3 and protein, has a lower carbon footprint, zero mercury, and is made without harming the ocean.

ABOUT THE ROLE :

We are a fast-growing, mission-driven team. Our R&D Assistants play an important role in bridging product development and production. You will help validate and test new formulas, production processes, and equipment.

AS AN R&D ASSISTANT, YOU WILL :

  1. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (including Food Science, Engineering, Quality, and Production) to validate and improve efficiency of new and custom equipment.
  2. Support production trials and experiments for new formulations and processes.
  3. Assist in tracking, analyzing, and presenting data on trials and experiments.
  4. Identify areas for optimization and work with the team to develop and implement solutions.
  5. Create SOPs, operator guides, troubleshooting guidelines, and other documentation as needed.
  6. Ensure compliance with all quality and sanitation standards, policies, and procedures, escalating issues when necessary.

YOU WILL BRING :

  • A Bachelor's degree in a science-related field and experience in a lab setting.
  • Experience with or on a commercial production line is a bonus.
  • Knowledge of scientific instruments, tools, and data analysis.
  • Ability to adapt in a high-paced environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
  • High attention to detail.
