About The RoleLafarge is recruiting for a Quarry Operator at our Exshaw Cement Plant. Quarry Operators are responsible for operating heavy duty machinery as well as basic labouring and field operating in an efficient, safe, and environmentally friendly way. They participate in housekeeping and other various tasks throughout the Quarry. A high level of safety practices must be used at all times.
What You’ll Accomplish- Develop and apply a foundational understanding of pre-homo chemistry to support operational processes.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment across all quarry areas through diligent general housekeeping.
- Proactively identify, analyze, and resolve operational issues as they occur, making sound and timely decisions to ensure smooth workflow.
- Safely and proficiently operate a range of light and heavy mobile equipment to facilitate quarry operations.
- Effectively perform duties within the plant environment, adhering to safety protocols while navigating confined spaces, varying temperatures, potential discomfort, and hazards such as dust, flying particles, falling objects, and equipment, with flexibility for potential shift work and stressful situations.
- Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
What We’re Looking ForEducation: High School Diploma
Required Work Experience: Previous experience driving/operating heavy duty equipment
Additional Requirements:- Valid driver’s license
- Must be able to work different shifts as required to support operational needs.
- Competent operating a motor vehicle.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Computer literacy.
- Have numeracy skills.
- Have document comprehension skills.
- Demonstrate ability to work effectively with others
- Positive customer orientation
- Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
