Holcim is planning to spin-off its North American Business to unleash its full potential, capitalizing on North America’s oversized growth in construction led by the modernization of infrastructure, a surge in advanced manufacturing and AI operation and the growth of resilient cities.
Holcim plans to list the new company on the NYSE by the end of the first half of 2025 and establish its operations headquarters in the US to be fully dedicated to serving the North American market and pursue a growth strategy across the region.

ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Quarry Manager's primary responsibility is to lead, guide and direct Quarry personnel and other activities of the quarry to safely produce the quantity and quality of raw materials at the lowest possible cost.
WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH
- Monitors daily production, blast layout and patterns, drilling operations, blasting operations, safety, staffing, training, labour relations, primary crushing and stacking of raw materials.
- Leads and serves as a role model in the areas of environmental stewardship, leadership, teamwork, customer focus, and continuous improvement to ensure alignment with the company’s vision and critical success factors.
- Manages a limestone quarry operated by Lafarge, and two smaller quarries operated by a contractor.
- Reviews, confirms, and executes the long term mining plan such that sufficient reserves are located verified in quality, planned for mining and prepared sufficiently in advance to support uninterrupted quarrying activities. Executes the mine reclamation plans for all quarries.
- Develops a plan for the high magnesium rock, which is not used by the plant
- Develops crushing strategies for all additives and limestone and resolves material handling issues (shale, red shale, gypsum, iron, sandstone, etc).
- Looks for synergies with the utilization of the primary crusher and A&C. Develops a mining plan which includes consideration for A&C needs.
- Reduces the plant’s operating cost of the quarry with A&C and integrates A&C operation into the quarry for mutual benefits.
- Manages all aspects of mobile equipment maintenance at the Exshaw Cement Plant. Direct oversight of scheduling and maintenance of mobile equipment at the site. Responsible for mobile equipment maintenance budget and costs. Embraces best practices, processes and tools to ensure mobile maintenance activities are optimized and costs are best in class. Effectively utilizes Lafarge’s maintenance programs to ensure the proper scheduling of activities.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Education: Bachelor’s Degree
Field of Study Preferred: Mining Engineering
Required Work Experience: Minimum of 5 years experience managing open pit mines and mobile mining fleet and/or raw material handling systems
Required Training/Certifications: Valid Driver’s License
Travel Requirements: 5%
Additional Requirements:
- Comprehensive understanding of plant production, plant and equipment maintenance, quality control, and supervisory practices and principles.
- Strong understanding of quality control systems and the various levers affecting a long-term, stable raw material feed
- Eligibility to obtain a surface mine blasting certificate is a definite asset.
- Strong leadership skills, good human relations skills, and competent mechanical capabilities are required.
- Knowledgeable of regulatory agencies and issues of compliance.
- Strong safety leadership experience is required.
- Significant, successful supervisory experience of both hourly and supervisory personnel.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
