Job summary

National Research Council Canada (NRC) seeks a Research Officer, Quantum Integrated Devices, to advance silicon photonics for quantum communications and integrated photonic systems at the Quantum Nanotechnologies unit in Ottawa. The successful candidate will develop and optimize fabrication processes for silicon nitride photonic devices and work within a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Physical, Chemical, Materials Sciences, Photonics, Optics, or equivalent Engineering.
• PhD in one of these disciplines will be considered an asset.
• Two to five years hands-on semiconductor nanofabrication experience.

Responsibilities

• Developing and optimizing fabrication processes for silicon nitride photonic devices.
• Designing, fabricating, and characterizing integrated photonic components.
• Conducting optical and materials characterization to evaluate device performance.
• Generating detailed technical reports and publishing findings in scientific publications.
• Collaborate effectively with researchers across government, academia, and industry.
