Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce is seeking a Quantum Machine Learning Research Scientist in Toronto to lead applied research on quantum algorithms and their bank-wide applications. You will collaborate with researchers, engineers, and business units to identify real-world use cases in fraud, cybersecurity, and optimization.
You will demonstrate strong quantum computing expertise, design hands-on experiments, and translate theoretical results into practical insights for senior leadership.
As a Quantum Machine Learning Research Scientist, you will play a key individual contributor role within CIBC’s Advanced Analytics and AI team, driving the development and application of quantum computing capabilities across the bank. You will lead applied research initiatives focused on designing, executing, and evaluating quantum algorithms, working closely with researchers, engineers, and business stakeholders to explore real-world use cases in areas such as fraud, cybersecurity, and optimization. You will contribute to advancing quantum research while translating complex concepts into practical insights, helping shape how emerging technologies can be leveraged within a banking environment. This role requires a strong balance of technical depth, hands‑on experimentation, and the ability to communicate findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
