Job summary

TC Energy, based in Calgary, is seeking a Quantitative Risk Engineer to support its QRA process across Canada, the U.S. and Mexico.

The role focuses on risk assessment, algorithm maintenance in Python, and delivering risk-informed decisions to ensure safe and reliable pipeline operations. You will join the Risk & Technical Governance team, contribute to industry standards, and work in a hybrid environment with accommodations as needed.

Qualifications

• P.Eng. in good standing with APEGA or eligible to register.
• Five years of progressive engineering experience, including graduate studies.
• Experience in quantitative risk assessment, probabilistic analysis, and data analytics.
• Competent programming in Python or comparable language.
• Knowledge of pipeline integrity threat management practices.
• Strong oral and written business communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Complete annual quantitative risk assessments on 90,000 km of pipelines across Canada, USA and Mexico.
• Lead risk assessment for 3rd Party Damage and Weather & Outside Forces (Geohazards).
• Validate risk estimates using statistical and data analytic methods.
• Maintain and update threat algorithms in Python on a cloud-based platform.
• Improve the accuracy and granularity of risk estimates.
• Leverage quantitative risk estimates to support risk-informed decisions.
• Demonstrate ALARP risks qualitatively and quantitatively.
• Write reports and maintain risk management standards and procedures.
• Participate in industry research, standards committees, and external activities.
• Collaborate with Pipeline Integrity teams to support risk-informed decisions.
