ROMET Limited in Mississauga, Canada, is seeking a Quality Test Engineering Specialist to elevate the Product Realization team. You will lead software QA, plan test strategies, and document results across Windows, web, and mobile applications.

Qualifications

• 4 years degree in technology-related discipline
• Minimum 3 years of experience as a Software Quality Assurance Specialist
• Experience in writing clear, concise, and comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test results
• Experience with regression, functional, and conformance testing
• Strong experience writing test cases, testing, and documenting results for Windows Application software, web, and mobile applications
• Must have experience with firmware test on simulators and/or hardware
• Must have experience with test automation using Python/Java Scripts

Responsibilities

• Document software defects, using a bug tracking system, and report defects to developers
• Document test procedures to ensure replicability and compliance with standards
• Plan test schedules or strategies in accordance with project scope or delivery date
• Software compatibility tests with programs/hardware/operating systems/network environments
• Provide feedback and recommendations to developers on software usability and functionality
• Update automated test scripts to ensure accuracy
• Monitor program performance to ensure efficient and problem-free operations
• Develop/specify standards, methods, procedures to determine product quality/release readiness
• Conduct historical analyses of test results
• Develop and execute physical reliability test plans for products and prototypes, including environmental, mechanical, ingress, power-cycle, and accelerated life testing as applicable
• Define test setups, acceptance criteria, sample sizes, instrumentation, and data-collection methods in collaboration with engineering and quality teams
• Prepare clear, complete, and traceable test documentation—including test methods, conditions, results, deviations, conclusions, and supporting evidence for formal review and approval
• Analyze reliability failures, document results, support root-cause investigations, and verify corrective actions through repeat testing
• All other duties as assigned

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY

Reporting directly to the VP of Product Realization, the Quality Test Engineering Specialist will provide software
quality assurance to the developers on usability and functionality of software as well as providing full planning of
test procedures, and documenting all testing scenarios, standards, methods, and processes.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Very good knowledge of Python is a must, Experience with Postman or Python Requests is a plus
• Good understanding of firmware test systems
• Exceptional attention to detail
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Great team player and able to work efficiently with minimal supervision
• Very good knowledge of communication protocols such as RS232/485, MQTT, Bluetooth
• Strong understanding of HW and electronic lab equipment (i.e. meters, oscilloscopes, & power
  supplies
• Hands-on experience with physical product reliability testing and related equipment, such as
  environmental chambers, vibration or shock equipment, ingress test setups, data loggers, and
  electrical measurement instruments
• Ability to do small solder jobs is a plus
• Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes. UI/CLI/API and DB test
• Experience with PYQT is a plus
• Working knowledge of Git, Jira, and Confluence
• Experience with Unit/ end-to-end / regression and integration testing
• Familiarity with databases for test data push storage and data retrieval is considered an asset
• Experience using (programming) ESP32 for test automation is a plus
