About this opportunity

Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Quality Technician is responsible for auditing the manufacturing process and the quality system to ensure that the product complies with quality and food safety standards. The Quality Technician will be a prominent representative of the Quality Department on the floor. This highly detail-oriented role requires excellent time management, organization, responsibility, and the ability to handle multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

When your actions lead to success:

You will:

  • Inspect product quality in raw materials, intermediate and finished products to reduce customer complaints and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Allocate your responsibilities as follows: 70% of your time will be spent on the production floor, 20% in the laboratory, and 10% in the office.
  • Investigate any non-conforming material (raw/intermediate/finished), collect samples and all relevant information to expedite disposition and to ensure on-time delivery is met.
  • Test raw materials, intermediate, trial and finished products to ensure that the standards are met.
  • Investigate and document: internal and external non-conforming material through IQI/RMA process, hold area reports, rejected raw materials, CARs, quality alerts, and internal audit reports.
  • Organize and maintain departmental databases and files.
  • Embrace a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration and teamwork.
  • Support and contribute to a healthy and safe work environment following workplace regulations, policies, and initiatives.
Qualifications

When your expertise drives us:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing/quality environment, preferably in the flexible packaging industry.
  • Technical diploma or equivalent work experience in quality control or manufacturing.
  • Quality assurance and documentation experience is an asset.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Intermediate computer skills (MS Office programs specifically: Outlook, Word & Excel).
  • Bonafide physical requirements to carry out the duties of the role include standing, walking, lifting and carrying up to 40lbs.
