Title: QA Technician - Level 1

Reports To: QA Manager/Supervisor

Location: 24 Napoleon Road Barrie

Hours: 11:00pm to 7:30am

Job Purpose: Performs a broad range of Quality Assurance activities such as providing quality support in new product launch, new or revised process implementation, process qualification, supplier performance management, testing and analysis, and receiving inspections. Also works toward quality cost reduction, and in general, quality related prevention and permanent corrective action activities in compliance with Integrated Management System.

  • Understands, and can apply basic quality principles and practices and a working knowledge of analytical and problem-solving tools.
  • Able to document quality issues and performance measures for management review.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks of high priority while delivering exceptional customer service and good business decision making.
  • Able to synthesize, analyze and interpret data to understand the impact on customer satisfaction and business goals.
  • Motivated to act with urgency and responsiveness.
  • Able to promote positive relationships and influence others for timely customer/business solutions.
  • Able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with all levels within the entire value chain.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Mfg. tools and principles an asset.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support production lines/areas for internal/external quality related issues. Exercise problem solving skills to implement corrective action for customer concerns in a timely manner and report as appropriate.
  • Able to complete incoming inspection using basic metrology tools.
  • Contain and identify nonconforming products.
  • Draft and issue Email Hold Notifications, coordinate rework as required.
  • Draft and issue Quality Alerts.
  • Draft and issue Concessions.
  • Issue supplier returns (RMRs) to disposition product as required.
  • Draft and issue Nonconformance Reports.
  • Conduct Process Audits and watch for trends.
  • Coordinate and conduct first-off or process runs on units, Kits and accessories for North American division and document findings.
  • Arrange to send out measurement equipment to maintain calibration schedule.
  • Aid production with the training of new production associates using product knowledge and quality experience.
  • Assist with any other quality assurance related activities and projects as assigned.

Education & Experience:

  • Completion of High School or GED equivalent
  • Minimum of 1-2 years' experience in Quality Assurance or a related technical field
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office)
  • Effectively communicate (both written and verbal) process audit results with production leadership
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Correct use of measurement tools to ensure product conformance to engineering drawings (i.e. Verniers, micrometers, manometers, dielectric testers, etc)
  • Basic understanding of quality principles (Pareto charts, 8 step, control plans).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 Dynamics an asset
  • Ability to perform product testing an asset
