Job Description:
The Q&FS Technologist is responsible for ensuring all relevant Q&FS standards are implemented and continuously improved to assure quality and food safety at the local site, protecting the consumer and our brands.
What are we looking for?
Education & Professional Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science-related discipline.
Knowledge/Experience:
- 2–5 years of experience in a quality, food safety, or regulatory compliance role.
- Strong understanding of GFSI standards (e.g., FSSC 22000, SQF, BRCGS).
- Experience in Food Safety Management using HACCP/HARPC.
- Experience with internal auditing, document control, CAPA systems, and risk assessment. Experience with external audits is an asset.
- Experience with SAP, ERP, or QMS software is an asset.
- LSS, Hazards, or PCQI Certifications are assets.
- Experience with Statistical Process Controls is an asset.
- Master's Degree is an asset.
- Analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to interpret technical data and regulatory standards.
- Excellent communication skills, both spoken and written.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Experience with PowerBI is an asset.
What will be your key responsibilities?
- Perform defined assignments within the technical leadership career band and develop competence through structured work assignments.
- Participate in the site-based internal audit program to ensure compliance with corporate Q&FS standards, Business Unit QFS directives, and FDA regulations.
- Act as a PRIMP incident owner and conduct thorough investigations.
- Facilitate corrective and preventative action programs in accordance with Mars QMS standards.
- Serve as the Food Safety Representative for the site HACCP Team.
- Ensure compliance with microbiology testing programs, including data analysis, reporting, and site improvement recommendations.
- Manage site management systems (SAP/Nexus) to ensure product disposition and destruction comply with Mars standards and directives.
- Lead food safety risk assessments for changes such as CAB, new products, packaging, processes, or regulations impacting QFS, and document all approved changes.
- Lead root cause analysis sessions for product-related incidents and recommend corrective actions.
- Participate in FMEA and other Six Sigma tools for continuous improvement.
- Analyze consumer complaint trends statistically and recommend improvement actions.
- Provide training on relevant food safety standards to supply chain associates.
- Lead investigations of consumer and customer complaints, ensuring timely follow-up and corrective actions in coordination with the site QFS Manager.
