Job Description

We are looking to add a Quality Systems Engineer to support our Cambridge, ON operations. You will be working with other functions in the Cambridge plant, to be a positive change agent with respect to operations quality. Drive accurate and timely completion of quality preventive, corrective, and containment actions. Strengthen the efficiency, effectiveness, and execution of processes defined within our Quality Management (QMS) and Rockwell Production Systems (RPS). You will report to the Quality Engineering Manager.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Within your assigned product line, provide timely & accurate responses to manufacturing-related Customer Issues; working with production to strengthen our Quality Control Plan for early detection, containment, and work to implement error-proofing strategies.
  • Within your assigned Medium Voltage product line, work with production to implement internal quality & scrap corrective actions at both "tactical" and "strategic" levels; "Tactical" problem-solving on the production floor triggered by Down times, purchased part/sheet metal NMRs & Quick Problem-solving (QPS) process, and "Strategic" root cause problem-solving using various tools such as 8D, MAARs, Kaizens, & DOEs.
  • Work with the Medium Voltage Business Unit (MV BU) and other Operations & Engineering Services (OES) support functions to realize successful new product launches.
  • Enhance our QMS effectiveness & efficiency (ISO-9001), by participating in various forms of Quality Management System (QMS) auditing and responding to assigned findings.
  • Identifies improvements in processes while adhering to defined standards, methods, and procedures; seeks feedback, advice, and clarification of processes to ensure quality of work; identifies and communicates opportunities to improve processes; focuses on streamlining activities for increased efficiencies.
  • Welcomes and acknowledges the ideas and input of others; readily involves others as appropriate to accomplish individual and group goals; contributes one's fair share of effort to the team's work; discourages "we versus they" thinking; looks for ways to collaborate and build teamwork with others.
  • Makes sound decisions based on adequate information; knows when to act and when to escalate the decision-making process; considers alternative solutions and perspective before making decisions.
  • Balances many priorities and competing demands effectively; modifies own work activities and methods to eliminate wasted effort and inefficient methods.

The Essentials - You Will Have:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • Legal authorization to work in CAN is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.

The Preferred - You Might Also Have:
  • 5+ years of quality engineering experience in manufacturing environments, with applied knowledge of Lean & Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Preference given to candidates with a PEO P.Eng. license, and designations in American Society for Quality (ASQ) and/or Certified Quality Engineer (CQE).
  • Preference will be given to candidates with working experience in Engineered-to-Order (ETO) Electrical/Electronic systems manufacturing, working in environments with formal quality management (ISO9001) & production systems.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills required for procedure writing and communication when dealing with all levels of the organization. The ability to provide clear, concise technical summaries to executives is critical.
  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt.
