POSITION SUMMARY

The Quality Supervisor (QA/QC) is responsible for overseeing all day-to-day quality control and assurance activities on the production floor to ensure compliance with GFSI certification standards, regulatory requirements (ie. CFIA, FDA), and company food safety and quality systems. This is a hands‑on position and actively supports the Quality team in monitoring, verification, and documentation tasks, while assisting in continuous improvement and audit readiness.

ROLE SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supervise and support QA/QC technicians in performing in‑process checks, product inspections, and verifications.
  • Conduct line checks, pre‑op inspections, and environmental monitoring as required.
  • Review production, quality records and CCP/PCP documentation of the system for completeness and accuracy.
  • Perform verification and validation tasks of the HACCP and the food safety and quality program.
  • Follow and complete periodic task functions within the food safety and quality task schedule.
  • Investigate and document quality deviations, non‑conformances, and corrective actions.
  • Maintain and update QA programs and procedures in compliance with GFSI (FSSC22000) requirements.
  • Support internal and external audits (GFSI, CFIA, Organic, Fairtrade, Rainforest Allianced, customer etc).
  • Participate in root cause analysis, CAPA implementation, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Train QCs and all staff on SOPs, GMPs, and food safety/quality requirements.
  • Support new product development launches, ensuring effective execution with production.
  • Manage traceability, recall, food fraud, approved supplier, sanitation and other QA related programs.
  • Maintain product specifications and manufacturing specifications utilizing various paperless software.
  • Assist the Director of Quality in data analysis, trend reporting, and management review preparation.
  • Provide daily directions and coaching to QC team members and conduct performance reviews.
  • Ensure proper communication between operations and cross‑functional teams within the company.
  • Cover QC technician duties when required to maintain continuous quality coverage.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects or quality related projects as required.
  • Backup for the Director of Quality/R&D when required.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Diploma or degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a food/beverage manufacturing QA/QC role.
  • Minimum 2 years supervisor experience in QA or QC.
  • Prior experience in a GFSI‑certified facility (SQF, BRC, FSSC22000, etc.) is required.
  • Strong understanding of HACCP, PCP, GMP, and food safety principles.
  • Experience with internal auditing, CAPA, and regulatory compliance.
  • Hands‑on, proactive approach with strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and capable of managing multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Proficient in MS Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, and Internet Explorer. Previous experience working with Quality software and ERP system is considered an asset.
  • Good judgment and professionalism.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to work well within a team and independently.
