About the Role - Quality Engineer (Maple Ridge, BC)

We are excited to announce an opportunity for a Quality Engineer within the Orica Digital Solutions team / RST Instruments.

At RST Instruments, we build geotechnical monitoring systems that help make critical infrastructure safer worldwide. Reporting to the Director of Quality, we are looking for a Quality Engineer who can help us take quality to the next level by working directly with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Production teams to embed quality at every stage of the process.

This role is ideal for someone hands-on, technically sharp, and passionate about problem-solving. You’ll be a key player in improving product reliability, resolving field issues, and supporting continual improvement, without taking ownership away from others. You'll help teams succeed by ensuring they have the right systems, tools, and accountability to deliver high-quality work.

What you will be doing

• Lead root cause investigations and drive corrective actions for production and field issues
• Work with Engineering and Manufacturing to build quality into products and processes
• Support validation and error-proofing of new and existing production processes
• Collaborate with the Service and Repairs teams to resolve customer issues quickly and completely
• Analyze quality data to identify trends and improve product reliability
• Assist with supplier quality investigations and risk mitigation
• Maintain and improve quality plans, control documentation, and KPIs
• Perform internal quality management system audits

Who You’ll Work With
You’ll partner closely with:
Engineering – to ensure design quality and manufacturability
Manufacturing Engineering & Production – to support process quality and factory readiness
Service & Repairs – to close the loop on customer complaints and champion failure analysis investigations
Supply Chain – to support supplier investigations and incoming quality

What you will bring

• Strong skills in root cause analysis, corrective actions, and problem-solving
• Experience with ISO 9001, FMEA, control plans, and process validation
• Quality Management System auditing training and experience
• ASQ Certifications (CQE, CQA) are an asset.
• Knowledge of electronics and mechanical assembly (PCB experience is a plus)
• Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or continual improvement tools
• Comfortable working with data, reports, and cross-functional teams
• Excellent communication and follow-through
• An exceptional ability to collaborate with and influence cross-functional teams, advancing a quality culture at all levels of the organization.
• The ability to travel internationally, including the US and Asia

• High-priority issues are resolved with sustainable fixes—no repeat problems
• Quality is built into new products and processes through proactive planning
• Nonconformities and customer issues are reduced and tracked through clear metrics

Your qualifications

• Degree in Manufacturing or Process Engineering
• 4+ years in manufacturing or quality engineering

  • Salary$90,000-$110,000 CAD
