Job Overview
The Quality Specialist is responsible for monitoring and evaluating the progress of all projects, ensuring documentation is reported to the Quality Manager, and addressing customer complaints. This role involves collaboration with various departments to meet customer requirements, maintain ISO 9001 compliance, and support production processes.
A Day In The Life
- Project Monitoring: Track progress on all projects and evaluate documentation, reporting findings to the Quality Manager.
- Issue Resolution: Review issues documented in a shared customer database with project stakeholders and ensure timely rectification within the allotted timeframe.
- Customer Complaints: Investigate customer complaints and manage them through their lifecycle, both internally and in customer portals.
- Cross Department Collaboration: Work with other departments to ensure customer requirements are clearly understood and that materials and equipment have appropriate documentation.
- Quality Management System (QMS): Support maintaining the QMS for ISO 9001 compliance.
- Calibration: Perform calibration of equipment to ensure measurement accuracy and reliability.
- Production Support: Collaborate with production teams to meet quality standards during manufacturing.
- 8D Root Cause Analysis: Conduct 8D analysis to identify and resolve quality issues effectively.
- QMS Maintenance: Maintain and report on the quality management system, implementing policies for quality awareness, process control, and continuous improvement.
- Data Analysis and Process Improvement: Use data analysis, process improvement, and project management skills to generate and report corrective actions, metrics, SOPs, and standard work.
- Corrective Actions: Facilitate, monitor, and evaluate corrective actions with department managers and verify their effectiveness.
- Metrics Reporting: Provide data inputs for quality metrics reporting across the facility and organization.
- ISO-9001 Compliance: Audit existing and new processes/procedures for ISO 9001 compliance.
- Quality Terminology and Methodology: Possess knowledge of quality terminology, AQL sampling, measurement devices, Six Sigma, SPC, DOE, etc.
- PPAPs/FAI: Knowledge of and assist with PPAPs/First Article Inspections for product management.
- Technology and Equipment: Advocate for new technology and equipment to support quality practices.
- Supplier Quality Data: Maintain supplier quality data, contribute to supplier scorecards, and visit suppliers as needed.
- Continuous Improvement: Lead activities to streamline quality processes and organization.
- PFMEAs/Control Plans: Develop PFMEAs and Control Plans by product family for preventive measures.
- Additional Duties: Perform other assigned duties.
What will help you thrive in this role?
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, Operations, Quality Assurance, or Science.
- Experience: 6-10 years in quality, or 2-4 years with an associate's degree.
- Preferred Experience: SAP experience is highly preferred.
- Audit Experience: Leading internal and supplier audits; auditor certification is advantageous.
- Data Skills: Intermediate to advanced data collection and analysis skills.
- Presentation Skills: Ability to create presentations, facilitate training, and public speak.
- Statistical Tools: Knowledge of SPC.
- Certifications: ASQ Certified Quality Engineer is a plus.
- Manufacturing Experience: Helpful but not required.
- Travel: Up to 10% travel required.
- Language Skills: Bilingual in French, Spanish, or both is a bonus.
