PRIMARY DUTIES
Include the following but other duties may be assigned.
- Working with the President and owner, assists in developing budgets and strategic quality plans to support business goals and objectives.
- Develops strong working relationships with other managers and departments; acts as a teacher/mentor to help others understand and comply with quality functions.
- Develop succession/backup plans to ensure continuity of tasks and responsibilities.
- Assesses and develops skills of subordinates by providing feedback, training and on-time performance reviews.
- Keeps abreast of new developments, customer/vendor issues, certification issues, etc. which affect the quality function. Advises management as necessary. Seeks new and/or improved methods to increase efficiency and quality.
- Staffs inspection department to ensure the Company has the necessary skills to meet current and future needs.
- Ensures inspection procedures are developed and maintained to meet Customer/Company requirements.
- Ensures ongoing review and analysis of discrepancies and other quality issues. Works with other managers and customers to identify root causes and prevent recurrences.
- Ensures inspection staff training is up to date and any certifications are maintained.
- Reviews Customer inspection requirements and provides input on RFQ’s and quotes.
- Monitors and ensures vendor quality.
- Ensures all necessary components of a Quality Management System are in place and the effectiveness of such.
- Ensures the QMS meets the needs of the Company and Customer.
- Ensures that QMS policies and procedures comply with all outside quality certifications (ISO9001, AS9100, etc.) and that the Company maintains all desired certifications.
- In conjunction with Human Resources, ensures that employees are adequately trained in the QMS and all relevant procedures.
- Develops and monitors processes and actions to promote a proactive quality culture within the organization.
- Develops quality goals and metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of the quality function and monitor improvement efforts.
- Ensures all safety training is completed in a timely manner.
- Participates/ administers disciplinary or corrective action as it relates to quality compliance.
- Responsible for maintaining accurate time and attendance records in time and attendance system.
- Responsible performance management for direct reports.
SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participates in any extra curriculum activity deemed necessary by management.
- Assist other department and/or areas as requested by management or supervisor.
- Follows all company policies and safety guidelines.
- Develop a cohesive team and leads by example.
- Ensures departmental compliance to all safety rules and regulations.
- Demonstrates a proactive approach to safety.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position oversees personnel working in the Quality department, that ranges from inspectors to CMM personnel as well as Supervisors in department.
SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in quality control/assurance with at least 5 in a supervisory/management role.
- Minimum 5 years’ quality experience working with machined parts.
- Prior experience in administering, monitoring and updating Quality Systems to meet external audit and Company quality objectives
- Prior experience working in a job shop environment preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects in tandem in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Analytical, problem solving and results-driven approach to challenges and opportunities.
- Strong knowledge of Quality Improvement Systems and tools with prior experience in their effective utilization.
- Strong communication and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to work constructively in teams.
- Prior experience working with MRP systems.
- Ability to read blueprints and specifications.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
EDUCATION
BA in Business, BS in Engineering or similar discipline.
Prior direct, relevant experience may be substituted for degree.

- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing their job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will spend approximately 60% (excluding breaks and meal periods) of time in an office environment and 40% of the time in the manufacturing plant. When working in the plant it requires the use of personal protective equipment including (but not limited to) safety shoes
