Job summary

Amico Major Projects Inc. is seeking a Quality Lead for Rail & Track to oversee QA/QC across rail construction activities in Ontario.

You will coordinate inspections, maintain ITPs and quality records, and ensure traceability of materials and documentation, working closely with field teams and stakeholders. The role requires 5–10 years in construction with rail/track exposure, strong leadership, and a solid understanding of applicable codes and ISO 9001.

Qualifications

  • Prepare NCRs, log issues, and track closeout and ITPs.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications and quality procedures.
  • Produce monthly quality reports and support handover packages.

Job Description

The Quality Lead (Rail & Track) supports the delivery of quality assurance and control activities across rail and track construction works. The role is responsible for coordinating inspections, maintaining ITPs and quality records, and ensuring full traceability of materials and documentation. This position works closely with field teams and stakeholders to monitor track installationactivitiesincludingalignment,concrete placement,andrailsystemsensuringcompliancewithproject specifications and rail industry standards.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise, mentor, and provide technical guidance to Quality Control Coordinators.
  • Coordinate with Civil, Structural and Rail/Track teams to schedule and track Hold and Witness points.
  • Assign, schedule, and monitor daily QC tasks to ensure timely and thorough execution.
  • Performing visual examinations, witnessing, monitoring, and/or documenting as per project quality and inspection testing plans.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and third‑party inspectors to ensure compliance with approved quality plans and contractual requirements.
  • Liaising with Owner representatives and consultants on quality related items.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and traceability of inspections, test results, and quality control activities in accordance with project record‑keeping protocols
  • Monitor compliance with Inspection and Test Plans, project specifications, and quality procedures.
  • Monthly written quality reports.
  • Preparation and issuance of NCR’s, NCR follow‑up and logging
  • Staying current with industry practices and technologies and seeking new and innovative construction methods and processes.
  • Support preparation of ITP close‑out, handover packages and handover tracker.
  • Assisting Site Superintendent with some daily data collection tasks.
  • Ensure full traceability between design documents, inspections, NCRs, and completion records.
  • Liaise with subcontractors and internal teams (engineering, construction, materials) to obtain missing documentation and resolve quality issues.
  • Support the Quality Control Manager in continuous improvement initiatives, audits, and root cause analyses and NCR Closeout.

Rail&TrackSpecificResponsibilities
  • Supportqualitycontrolactivitiesrelatedtotrackinstallation,including:
    • Concrete pre‑pour and during placement
    • Concrete post‑pour
    • Trackalignment,gauge,andtolerances
    • Railfasteningsystems, installation and weldingverification
    • Turnouts,crossings,andspecialtrackwork
  • Coordinateinspectionsrelatedtorailwelding,stressing,andalignment.
  • Ensurecompliancewithapplicablerailstandards,specifications,andprojectrequirements.
  • Maintainqualityrecordsspecifictorailsystems,includinginspectionlogs,testresults,and as built documentation.
  • Review subcontractor track Rail joints welding production, track checklist, machine report, weld visual and NDT report and weld map/schedule.
  • Review subcontractor documentation related to track installation checklist, Track Geometry prior to the pour, Post pour survey and Slab -As‑built.
  • Track the punch items in a deficiency log and support closing
Qualifications
  • Degree or diploma from an accredited engineering program, construction management program, or a related discipline.
  • 5-10 years of construction experience, with exposure to rail/track works preferred or required.
  • Working knowledge of pertinent regulations, codes, and specifications related to construction.
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership, even in situations without authority.
  • Experience with Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), quality documentation, and field inspections.
  • Working knowledge of construction specifications, codes, and standards (rail/transit experience is a strong asset).
  • Familiarity with quality management systems (ISO 9001 or similar).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for clear reporting, coordination, and stakeholder engagement.
