Position Summary

Without supervision, Level 3 Quality Inspectors will demonstrate extensive knowledge of Geometric Dimension and Tolerancing (GD&T) methods per ASME14.5. They will demonstrate expert level blueprint reading and manufacturing/inspection related math skills. They will serve as SMEs for CMM inspection. These inspectors read and interpret results of inspections to determine product conformance and will have enough knowledge of manufacturing processes to provide detailed feedback on ways to improve product quality. These inspectors work independently and seek little guidance from higher level employees. They will also demonstrate advanced knowledge in AS9102 reporting, including the ability to create reports independently. They will perform First Article, In-Process, and Final Inspection tasks.

The successful candidate will have experience performing these inspections in a machine-shop manufacturing environment and have proficient knowledge with GD&T.

This position will support 3rd shift operations with a schedule Sunday - Thursday, 8:15pm - 4:45am, with possible overtime available when business needs arise. Training schedule will be 8am – 4:30pm for approximately 3 months or until able to demonstrate the job with little to no intervention. Shift premium will apply when moved to 3rd shift.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Utilize internal/external documents to validate product meets dimensional requirements inside and outside of CNC machines.
  • Perform first article inspections to certify a process will yield a conforming product.
  • Utilize Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) for part inspection.
  • Validate GD&T requirements with manual inspection techniques.
  • Prioritize workflow based on daily shipping list.
  • Conduct visual tests and measurements using appropriate equipment and methods.
  • Perform measurements (length, height, width) with precision instruments like calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and CMM.
  • Create nonconformance tags and document nonconforming products within the MRB software.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience & Education
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years of relevant inspection experience.

  • Ability to read blueprints and measure dimensions accurately.
