This position will be at Summit Machine, LLC - an aerospace manufacturing company specializing in rough and finish machining of rings for gas turbine markets.
Working under minimal supervision, Quality Inspectors perform First Article, In-Process, and Final Inspection tasks demonstrating intermediate to advanced knowledge of shop math, print reading, measuring tools, product segregation, and quality reporting. The successful candidate will have experience performing these inspections in a metal machine-shop manufacturing environment and have proficient knowledge with GD&T.
This position will support 3rd shift operations with a schedule Sunday - Thursday, 8:15pm - 4:45am, with possible overtime available when business needs arise. Training schedule will be 8am – 4:30pm, M-F for approximately 3 months or until able to demonstrate the job with little to no intervention. Shift premium will apply when moved to 3rd shift.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Utilizing internal/external documents, the inspector will validate the product meets dimensional requirements inside and outside of CNC machines.
Perform first article inspections to certify a process will yield a conforming product.
Utilize Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) to validate GD&T requirements.
Prioritize workflow through Inspection department based on daily shipping list.
Conduct visual tests and measurements using appropriate equipment and methods.
Perform inspections by measuring various dimensions (length, height, width) using precision instruments, i.e., calipers, micrometers, dial indicator, and/or CMM, etc.
Create nonconformance tags and document nonconforming product within the internal MRB software.

Apply metrology techniques and participate in or promote process improvements.
The ability to locate reference points on products and measure dimensions using a combination of aids and precision tools.
The ability to apply AS9100 standards to the inspection process.
Self-motivated and maintain a positive focus and earnest approach in meeting responsibilities and goals.
Be a team player and contribute to incident data and problem-solving methods in the MRB process.
Maintain area cleanliness and organization within 6S initiatives.

Experience & Education:
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.
3 years of relevant inspection experience are required.
Experience performing First Article, In-Process, and Final Inspection is required.
MUST be able to demonstrate the ability to read blueprints and correctly understand how to measure dimensions and calculate tolerances based on GD&T.
Experience in manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, or similar industries is required.
CNC machine shop environment is preferred.

Manufacturing and production floor environment.
Exposure to moderate noise, occasional mist, airborne particles, and other elements typical of a manufacturing setting.
Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
