Job summary

Valard Construction is seeking a Quality Inspector to join the Quality group. The role reports to the Quality Manager and oversees quality on electrical utility projects, implementing the Quality Program and managing turnover packages across Canada.

The position requires inspecting electrical and civil installations, with fly-in/fly-out options from major airports. The role requires QA/QC experience in construction, proficiency with MS Office and Adobe Acrobat, and willingness to work 14 days on

Responsibilities

• Execute quality assurance and quality control activities on project sites
• Follow the company Quality Manual, project specific Quality Plans and Inspection and Test Plans
• Support all team members on Quality related matters and ensure Valard meets project standards and regulations
• Liaise with cross-functional groups within Valard, and with the client and sub-contractors on quality matters
• Review all assemblies/installations for completeness and conformance to IFC drawings and specs
• Flag deficiencies and monitor remedial actions
• Repair minor deficiencies during inspections where able
• Ensure tracking of damaged or nonconforming materials
• Coordinate with materials coordinator on nonconforming materials
• Maintain and manage the Master Punch List
• Assemble progressive turnover packages
• Inspections may cover Earthworks, Grounding, Site Drainage, Underground Work, Foundations, Welding, Electrical, Cabling, Building Construction, Fencing, Commissioning

Our Quality group is currently looking to add a Quality Inspector to our growing team.

Reporting to the Quality Manager, this position is responsible for managing Quality on electrical utility projects. This includes inspecting electrical / civil installations, effectively implementing Valard's Quality Program and Quality Management System, and compiling Progressive Turnover Packages.

Please Note: We are looking for candidates open to working a 14 days on / 7 days off schedule at various locations across Canada. Fly in / Fly out is available from most major airports.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Execute quality assurance and quality control activities on project sites
• Follow the company Quality Manual, project specific Quality Plans and Inspection and Test Plans
• Support all team members on Quality related matters and ensure Valard meets the requirements of the applicable Contract, Client Standards, Provincial and Federal Regulations, and Code(s) of Construction
• Liaise with cross-functional groups within Valard, as well as the designated client and sub‑contractor quality personnel on quality matters for the project
• Review of all full and partial assemblies/installations for completeness and conformance to IFC drawings and applicable specifications
• Flag all deficiencies and monitor remedial actions
• If able, repair minor deficiencies during inspections
• Ensure identifying and tracking any damaged or material issues
• Work with the materials coordinator (as applicable) to ensure nonconforming materials are repaired or replaced in accordance with IFC drawings
• Maintain and manage the Master Punch List
• Assemble the progressive turnover packages

Scope of inspections may include: Earthworks, Grounding, Site Drainage and Underground Work, Foundation Installation, Structural Steel Welding and Erection, Electrical Equipment Material and Installation, Cabling and Wiring, Control Building Construction, Fencing and Commissioning.

Requirements

• Previous QA / QC (Quality Assurance / Quality Control) experience in the Construction industry
• Available to work a shift of 14 days on / 7 days off at various locations across Canada
• Strong proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook) as well as Adobe Acrobat

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience monitoring civil, structural, and electrical installations
• Concrete, piling and earthworks experience
• Apprenticeship program or other certifications (such as CET, EIT, P.Eng.) particularly in an Electrical related field
• Strong background in reading and interpreting technical documents such as engineering codes, standards, specifications, construction drawings and other related documentation
• Power systems experience (Distribution, Substation, and/or Transmission)
• Experience using BlueBeam Revu, SharePoint

Benefits

This position offers a rate of $35.00 - $42.00 / hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
