JOB SUMMARY:
The Quality Control Inspector at Polyvinyl Films Inc. is responsible for inspecting and testing plastic film products to ensure they meet internal specifications and customer requirements. This position plays a key role in upholding quality standards through regular sampling, detailed inspections, and accurate reporting. Working closely with production staff, the QC Inspector helps to identify, document, and address quality concerns while maintaining a clean and organized inspection area.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Inspect finished products and raw materials for compliance with internal standards and customer specifications.
- Perform in-process inspections on products from the winder and rewinder machines.
- Train team members on quality protocols and how to recognize product defects.
- Maintain clear, detailed records of inspection results and report nonconformities to the Quality Manager.
- Support the implementation of quality improvement initiatives and assist in investigations of product issues.
- Help ensure compliance with company SOPs and safety procedures.
- Collaborate with production staff to maintain continuous quality assurance during shifts.
- Provide shift coverage for other QC Inspectors as needed.
ESSENTIALS JOB DUTIES:
- Select samples and inspect them using appropriate testing methods (e.g., thickness, tension, puncture, and dimensional measurements).
- Use measuring tools including electronic foot counters, calipers, and analog/digital thickness gauges.
- Cut plastic film rolls using a utility knife for inspection and defect review.
- Measure film length and assess product appearance and functionality against blueprints and specifications.
- Remove defective or nonconforming plastic film rolls from production areas.
- Perform incoming inspection of raw materials and final inspection before packaging or shipping.
- Accurately document daily quality metrics, including defect rates and measurement data, in electronic formats.
- Ensure cleanliness and orderliness of the QC inspection area at all times.
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Strong attention to detail and defect recognition skills.
- Familiarity with both imperial and metric measurement systems.
- Proficient with Windows 10 and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Able to read and interpret technical documents, blueprints, and SOPs.
- Skilled in using hand tools and measurement equipment, including analog and digital gauges.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Capable of working independently or as part of a team.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Prior experience in quality control, inspection, or manufacturing .
- Experience with plastic films, packaging, or extrusion processes is a plus.
- Familiarity with in-house equipment calibration and basic testing procedures is desirable.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to stand for extended periods during inspections.
- Capable of lifting and moving items up to 50 lbs.
- Manual dexterity required for handling film rolls, cutting tools, and precision instruments.
- Regular movement between production lines, inspection stations, and quality control areas.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by company policy.
- Exposure to varying temperatures, dust, and loud noise.
Shift B:
Monday-Wednesday: 7:00pm-7:00am
Every other Thursday: 7:00pm-7:00am
12 hour shift
