Job summary

Dart Canada Inc. in Scarborough, ON is seeking an Inspector to perform inspections and testing to ensure products meet specifications and customer expectations.

The role supports quality, food safety, and continuous improvement efforts on a unionized shop floor. You will inspect finished cups and lids, perform various quality checks with gauge and testing equipment, record results in GainSeeker, and collaborate with Production to identify root causes and corrective actions.

  • Capable of maintaining accurate documentation and records.
  • Experience with testing and measurement equipment is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect products and materials to ensure quality and customer specifications.
  • Follow safety policies and quality procedures throughout production.
  • Perform quality checks using specified measuring tools and equipment.
  • Inspect packaging for correct counts, labels, and corrugate requirements.
  • Record inspection results in the GainSeeker data system.
  • Initiate product holds for quality concerns and assist investigations of non-conforming product.
  • Collaborate with Production to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Communicate quality status to supervisors and management.
  • Support recalls and other quality initiatives as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Our commitment to producing high-quality products starts with a strong quality team. Dart's Scarborough manufacturing facility is adding an Inspector to perform inspections, conduct testing, and help ensure products consistently meet specifications and customer expectations.

  • Location: Scarborough, ON | 2121 Markham Road, M1B 2W3
  • Starting Rate: $22.63/hour (fixed & non-negotiable)
  • Shift: 8-hour / COP Schedule | All Shifts Required
What You'll Do...

You'll be responsible for inspecting products and materials throughout the manufacturing process to ensure compliance with quality, food safety, and customer requirements. Your day-to-day will include:

  • Following all safety policies, GMP requirements, food safety standards, and quality procedures
  • Inspecting finished products, including cups and lids, using both visual inspections and testing equipment
  • Performing quality checks using rim diameter gauges, cup height measurements, stack height measurements, force gauges, gram scales, leak tests, and tear tests
  • Inspecting work-in-process paper and foam materials for print quality, color consistency, and registration accuracy
  • Performing foam quality checks using caliper gauges, force gauges, Vernier measuring tools, tape measures, gram scales, smoothness testers, and visual inspections
  • Recording inspection results accurately within the computerized GainSeeker data collection system
  • Conducting packaging audits to ensure packaging specifications are met, including counts, labels, and corrugate requirements
  • Initiating product holds when quality concerns are identified and assisting in investigations of non-conforming product
  • Working closely with Production teams to identify root causes and implement corrective actions
  • Communicating quality concerns and product status to supervisors and management through verbal communication, documentation, and non-conformance reports
  • Supporting product recall activities and other quality-related initiatives as required
  • Performing other duties as assigned
What You'll Need...
  • Strong commitment to safety, attendance, quality, and continuous improvement
  • Ability to work in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
  • Strong product inspection and quality assurance aptitude
  • Ability to identify product defects and determine appropriate corrective actions
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain intense visual concentration
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees, supervisors, and management
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Good computer skills and experience maintaining accurate documentation and records
  • Experience using testing, measuring, or laboratory equipment is considered an asset
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including lifting, climbing, and moving materials using a pump truck
  • Ability to accurately distinguish colors and identify quality variations in finished products and materials
Schedule & Union Environment

This is a unionized position, and union membership is mandatory upon successful completion of the probationary period.

  • The role follows an 8-hour / COP schedule
  • Availability for all shifts is required
  • Shifts are assigned based on union seniority and existing preferences
