Job Description:

The Q&FS Technician reviews production and thermal process records to ensure compliance with food safety regulations and Mars quality standards. This role maintains required quality documentation per USDA, FDA, CFIA, FSSC 22000, and Mars QMP (excluding HACCP), and proactively improves quality systems to reduce risks. As part of the Quality & Food Safety team, the technician supports the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Q&FS processes to ensure all Mars Canada products are safe and meet customer expectations.

What are we looking for?
  • BS Degree in Food Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Agriculture, Agronomy or Genetics, and up to 1 year internship, co-op working in Food Manufacturing Industry Or equivalent experience in Food Manufacturing environment working in Quality, Food Safety, or Operations.
  • Knowledge and experience in Quality Assurance or Quality Control
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally in the food Industry
  • Previous experience working with computer systems e.g., SAP, Nexus, and database
  • Hold / stock management disposition
  • Risk Assessments/Root cause analysis
  • Ability to train others
  • Technical knowledge of raw materials, packaging and process at the site
  • Statistics and Statistical Process Control
What will be your key responsibilities?
  • Responsible for Hold & Release of finished goods manufactured at BFP and associated metrics reporting
  • Thermal process records review and records management
  • Hold management and reporting of raw and packing materials
  • Functional expert user for site InfinityQS application (Data collection and Statistical Process Control)
  • Conducts associate quality training
  • Maintains BOM In SAP and related activities
  • Drive quality or process improvement projects for product quality and food safety in RTH areas.
  • PRIMP and CAPA inputs (provide problem-solving activities as needed to resolve issues). Participate in Risk Assessments including investigations of consumer complaints
  • In conjunction with the Site R&D Manager, supports regulatory inspections and resulting corrective actions.
  • Responsible for production retains storage and recovery
  • Incident investigation – Assessment of the data, processes and practices that are associated with quality & food safety issues to determine root cause and contributing factors
  • Manage product disposition decisions for Quality and Food Safety non-conformances and ensure resolution is conducted in a timely manner with the appropriate investigation and associated corrective action is undertaken. Witness food safety related destructions (backup)
  • Develop and implement effective Corrective and Preventive Actions, as well as continuous improvement programs in collaboration with key stakeholders
  • Manage CCP standards (backup role) for RTH
  • Provide support and assistance where required to ensure Quality & Food Safety of Mars products and brands, as well as contribute to and support our high-performance team culture.
