Job summary

Amara Industries in Canada seeks a quality assurance professional to support QA processes, document control, and continuous improvement across manufacturing. You will develop inspection logs, run statistical analyses, and assist in supplier and customer quality issues.

Qualifications

  • Post secondary education or equivalent in Quality or Engineering.
  • Degree, Diploma or Certificate in Quality or Engineering.
  • Able to read, write, understand and communicate in English effectively.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations.
  • Good understanding of manufacturing systems as they relate to quality.
  • Self-starter in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Proficient in Word & Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint; Office 365 is an asset.
  • Knowledge of extrusion or injection molding processes is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the QAM in developing, updating, and implementing work instructions and packaging specifications.
  • Assist the QAM to maintain the Document Control Program for the site.
  • Prepare daily/weekly quality reports for the QA Manager.
  • Monitor and collect data for month-end reports for the QAM.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and customers to resolve quality issues.
  • Develop inspection logs for new and existing products.
  • Conduct inspections on customer returns and identify quality issues and solutions.
  • Coordinate internal audits to ensure consistency in company practices.
  • Conduct GMPs and ISO 9001:2015 related audits; generate findings/CAR for managers.
  • Organize audits on suppliers and oversee calibration program.
  • Train production staff and QA technicians on quality standards and procedures.
  • Maintain quality documentation including alerts, testing results, and corrective actions.

What you will do:
  • Assist the QAM in developing, updating, and implementing work instructions and packaging specifications for various products.
  • Assist the QAM to help maintain the Document Control Program for the whole site.
  • Prepare daily/weekly Quality reports for the Quality Assurance Manager.
  • Monitor & collect information, data, statistics for month end reports for the QAM.
  • Support the General Manager and the QAM to enforce new quality goals (KPI’s) based on product performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Develop inspection logs for new and existing products
  • Review completed quality inspections logs and communicated issues or concerns
  • Conduct inspections on customer returns and identify quality issues and recommend solutions
  • Collaborate with suppliers and customers to resolve quality issues
  • Keep track of quality issues and implement corrective and preventive actions
  • Develop and oversee product testing methods for new and existing products at different stages of production
  • Organize quality testing studies and use statistical methods (SPC) to analyze data and identify irregularities
  • Analyze dimensional layouts and make improvements where required as per customer requirements
  • Investigate all non-conformity reports (NCR) and issue quality as needed
  • Create and submit Production Part Approval Processes (PPAP) to the customer, as required
  • Coordinate internal audits to ensure consistency in company practices
  • Conduct monthly GMP’s, 9001:2015, and any other customer related audits to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations. Generate findings/CAR for Dept. Managers to address and be in compliance with the given standards.
  • Organize audits on suppliers using various assessment strategies
  • Train production staff and quality assurance technicians on quality standards and procedures
  • Develop, Maintain and file quality documentation including quality alerts, testing results and corrective actions
  • Oversee and maintain the Calibration Program for the site and report any issues to the Quality Assurance Manager. Ie. gauges, scales, calipers etc.
  • Any other duties assigned by the General Manager or the Quality Assurance Manager
The right candidate will have/be:

Education: Post Secondary Education or equivalent

  • Degree, Diploma or Certificate in Quality or Engineering
  • A working background in the plastics industry is desirable
  • Able to read, write, understand, and communicate in English effectively
  • knowledge of industry standards and regulations
  • Good understanding of manufacturing systems, as they relate to quality is an asset
  • Self-starter and able to work in an extremely fast paced team environment
  • Able to make sound decisions and judgement calls relative to customer specifications
  • Proficient in the use of Word & Excel, Outlook, Power point
  • Knowledge of other office 360 programs is an asset
  • Knowledge of the extrusion or injection molding process and manufacturing environment
  • Able to work with minimal supervision
