Job summary

Cosma International, part of Magna, is seeking a Quality Engineer with expertise in PPAP/ APQP to lead customer production part approvals and drive continuous quality improvements. This role requires 5–7 years of experience in mechanical/quality engineering and experience in Tier 1 automotive environments.

You will develop control plans, review GD&T, support new model launches, manage inspection standards, and coordinate with suppliers to meet program timing.

Qualifications

• Completion of community college diploma/certificate.
• 5-7 years of work-related experience.
• Completion of a post-secondary education program in mechanical/quality engineering.
• ASQC CQE certification as a Quality Engineer preferred.
• Tier 1 automotive experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead, participate and approve Customer PPAP timing (Phased PPAP).
• Ensure all APQP requirements are known, tracked, adhered to using planned milestones.
• Review Government Approvals required and developed Inspection Standards.
• Lead plant trials for engineering changes, tool moves and new program launches.
• Lead Launch and Warranty issue resolution for customer quality concerns (8D, 7 steps, 5 phases).
• Participate in warranty reviews and analysis at customer center.
• Manage new model launch field support for containment and timely closures of issues.
• Coordinate and participate in internal/supplier drawing reviews.
• Prepare and complete Control Plans and component Receiving Inspection Matrix.

• Coordinate and participate in Internal/Supplier Drawing Reviews
• Prepare and complete Control Plans
• Prepare and complete component Receiving Inspection Matrix and Instructions
• Assist in Preparation and approval of Assembly Work Instructions
• Develop Product Validation (PV) Plan (Schedule) including reliability and confidence (R&C) requirements in accordance with Program timing
• Develop, implement and supervise Launch Containment System
• Participate in Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis (PFMEA) review and team sign off
• Participate in Bill of Material (BOM) review and sign off
• Leads Engineering TA Temporary Deviation Request (TA) process – status/follow-up/resolution
• Facilitate supplier deviation requests (i.e. Supplier Request for Change Deviation SRCCD’s, EDR’s) through closure with the supply base
• Coordinate and participate in Early Supplier Involvement with Design and Purchasing
• Adhere to all Product Delivery Process (CPDP), Program Planning requirements and expectations
• Develop Customer attachment and contact point list (CIC)
• Coordinate and ensure sign-off / concurrence of control plan / attachment point checklist in conjunction with Mistake Proof Evaluation Procedure
• Review GD&T, requirements of Finished Good/Components
• Prepare and present Launch QE Summary Report
• Develop Mapping Including Critical Characteristics Tables
• Participate in Document Linkage Review
• Review lessons learned database
• Establish Supplier PPAP timing and review/approve on time prior to Product Validation requirements
• Co-ordinate checking fixtures supply (design, manufacturing, Gage R&R, Instructions, Training)
• Support pre-production builds
• Conduct Test Fixture Verification – Vehicle alignment, review and signoff to verify sequence, setup, etc.
• Ensure proper level test parts are built and delivered to test lab
• Periodic review of in-process testing
• Post test set-up and result signoff
• other duties as required

SALARY RANGE $74,000 - $86,600.
