Summary :
The Director of Quality, as a key member of the senior management team, will lead, direct, and manage a team of quality specialists. The role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining quality assurance systems, supplier quality engineering, and product quality support activities.
Duties & Responsibilities :
- Lead the business quality management systems and programs by developing and implementing KPIs, policies, procedures, and quality standards within an ISO 9000 environment.
- Conduct supplier evaluations and process audits, reviewing and documenting supplier quality and delivery performance.
- Collaborate with the Supply Chain department to develop existing and potential new suppliers.
- Oversee product quality development, including establishing standards, methods, and procedures for inspection, testing, and evaluation of products.
- Work with cross-functional departments to report product failures and help formulate resolutions.
- Ensure the production of reports on product quality as required by senior management.
- Implement and maintain action plans for products on/off hold via the Stop Build / Stop Ship process.
- Support Contract Administration in addressing product quality requirements during contract review processes.
- Coordinate with NPI Engineering during new product introductions to develop manufacturing and quality plans.
- Promote quality initiatives and collaborate with the VP & GM of EOD and senior management.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to implement continuous improvement methodologies.
- Manage product and production certifications and compliance, including NIJ Standard 0117.01 and EU Regulation 2016/425 on PPE (CE Marking).
- Work with Supply Chain on regulatory compliance issues such as REACH, RoHS, Conflict Minerals, and PFAS.
- Collaborate with Business Process owners to revise and manage document releases.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Quality specialists, setting performance goals and fostering professional growth.
- Manage the Quality department's annual budget.
Education & Experience :
- Minimum of 10+ years of progressive experience in quality management within a technical manufacturing environment.
- Bachelor's degree in industrial, mechanical engineering, or related field, or equivalent training and experience.
- Formal training and certification in quality systems such as ASQ or ISQM is advantageous.
- Experience with lean manufacturing and corporate operating models.
- Ability to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving, negotiation, analytical, and project management skills.
- High technical aptitude and capability to manage multiple priorities.
- Leadership skills to motivate and develop employees.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
- Eligibility to obtain a positive Controlled Goods Assessment.
