Job summary

Kenaidan Contracting Ltd in Niagara/Hamilton ON is seeking a Quality Coordinator to administer the project’s Construction Quality Management Plan and ensure compliance with standards, drawings, and regulations. This site-based role focuses on coordinating ITPs, inspections, and non-conformance actions.

The ideal candidate has a construction background, ISO 9001 experience, and strong teamwork skills to support project success within a major transit infrastructure initiative.

Qualifications

  • Degree/Diploma in a construction related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • ISO 9001 QMS Auditor.
  • A minimum of 5 years construction related experience with 2 years in a QA/QC Role.
  • Experience with rail projects is preferred.
  • General construction knowledge including blueprint reading.
  • Strong computer skills (i.e. spreadsheet, project planning, AutoCAD).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and monitor project quality requirements with the Project Team and QA/QC managers to ensure contract compliance.
  • Develop and maintain the Construction Quality Management Plan for the project.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of ITPs for each construction element or activity.
  • Create and distribute weekly ITP look-ahead schedules to the project team and subcontractors.
  • Review quality requirements with subcontractors and suppliers and monitor compliance.
  • Coordinate quality inspections, testing, hold points, and approvals with the team and third parties.
  • Support implementation of non-conformance tracking and corrective actions.
  • Perform field quality inspections and audits to ensure standards are met.

Quality Coordinator

The Quality Coordinator provides administration and coordination of the project’s Construction Quality Management Plan to ensure compliance to standards, regulations, specifications, drawings, and best practices. Coordinate the day-to-day project quality requirements for all phases of the project through closeout. This position in site based.

How will you contribute to the team?
  • Coordinate and monitor project quality requirements in conjunction with the Project Team and the Quality Manager or Construction Quality Manager to ensure compliance with contract specifications and technical requirements.
  • Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of the project-specific Construction Quality Management Plan.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of the project Inspection and Test Plan, including individual ITPs for each construction element or work activity.
  • Develop and distribute a weekly ITP look-ahead schedule to the project team, applicable subcontractors, third-party testing agencies, consultants, and owner representatives, as required.
  • Review quality requirements with subcontractors and suppliers and monitor their compliance throughout the duration of the project.
  • Coordinate quality inspections, testing activities, hold points, witness points, and required approvals with the project team, subcontractors, consultants, and third-party testing agencies.
  • Work with the Quality Manager or Construction Quality Manager to develop and maintain Quality Audit Plans.
  • Schedule and coordinate internal and external quality audits of key project processes, subcontractors, suppliers, and other relevant parties.
  • Support the implementation of processes for identifying, documenting, tracking, and resolving non-conformances.
  • Work with the Project Team to perform root-cause analysis and ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented and closed within the required timelines.
  • Coordinate meetings and inspections with consultants, client representatives, subcontractors, and other stakeholders regarding quality-related matters, including the closure of Non-Conformance Reports.
  • Conduct field quality inspections and participate in critical inspections, testing, and verification activities, as required.
  • Monitor construction activities to confirm compliance with approved drawings, specifications, inspection and test plans, procedures, and applicable codes and standards.
  • Perform quality assessments of subcontractors and suppliers, including the review of construction quality documentation, management plans, procedures, qualifications, and records.
  • Review third-party inspection and test reports, material certificates, and other quality documentation collected throughout the project.
  • Identify quality issues, trends, deficiencies, or incomplete documentation and bring them to the attention of the Quality Manager or Construction Quality Manager and the Project Team.
Education and Experience

Salary Range: Between $75,000- $100,000, depending on experience
