Job description

BURNCO is seeking a Concrete Quality Control Technician / Technologist based in Kelowna. In this role, you will be responsible for quality control testing of concrete products from our Kelowna, Penticton, and Vernon locations. The primary focus is on QC testing, with opportunities to develop into a senior technical role within our Okanagan facilities. Candidates with industry experience are preferred, but we are open to developing less experienced individuals with the right attributes.

Responsibilities, which will vary with experience, include but are not limited to:

• Concrete quality control testing at BURNCO and customer locations
• Interacting regularly with clients, testing companies, and operations personnel
• Troubleshooting and recommending changes to ensure materials meet specifications
• Monitoring and reporting on placement, logistical, and curing conditions affecting product performance
• Auditing third-party testing procedures
• Reviewing and recording test results
• Preparing and conducting batch trials
• Providing technical guidance to BURNCO personnel
• Reporting and resolving safety concerns and non-compliance issues
• Ensuring all work is performed safely in accordance with BURNCO policies

Requirements:

• A valid BC Driver's License with a clean driving record
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Well organized, punctual, and reliable
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Some weekend work may be required

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience in concrete testing
• Certification with CCIL / ACI for basic concrete testing procedures
• Post-secondary education in civil, mechanical, or materials engineering, with CET or EIT status preferred
• Knowledge of concrete products and raw materials
• Experience with Command Suite of products (QC / Series / Batch)

Important: This is a safety-sensitive role. Candidates must pass comprehensive pre-employment testing, including drug and alcohol screening and fitness to work assessments. We maintain a zero-tolerance policy for cannabis-derived products regardless of use frequency or purpose.

Experience and Skills:

Quality assurance, inspection, use of calipers, CMM, micrometers, knowledge of ISO 9001, manufacturing, and related skills.
