Quality Control (QC) Inspector - Contract

Job Description

Our client seeks QC inspectors for contract roles in Saskatchewan, starting June 2025. The position requires independent contractor status, offering intermittent work with flexible scheduling based on inspection requests.

The scope includes:

  • Inspection activities for repairs, alterations, installation, and periodic inspections of pressure equipment as per Saskatchewan regulations and CSA-B51, under the client’s QMS and QCP.
  • Provision of labor, materials, and equipment for quality assurance at multiple sites, including major construction projects.
  • Inspection of new equipment, periodic inspections, issuing certificates, oversight of code repairs, and support for both maintenance and new construction.

The QC Inspector will oversee and ensure compliance with quality standards, complete necessary documentation, and support the client’s QA system.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with all legal and corporate requirements, including ASME codes, Saskatchewan regulations, and client-specific manuals.
  • Lead QA during overhaul and outage activities, investigate non-conformances, and support repair and inspection processes.
  • Review, approve, and document pressure equipment repairs, alterations, and inspections.
  • Supervise subordinate and contract staff as assigned.
  • Assist in developing repair procedures and maintaining accurate records.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate must have one of the following certifications:

  • Saskatchewan Pressure Equipment Inspector’s Class 2 License
  • API 510 Pressure Vessel Inspector
  • API 570 Piping Inspector
  • CWB W178.2 Level II or III Welding Inspector with ASME endorsements

Minimum five years of industrial experience in power boilers, with at least two in pressure welding quality control. Knowledge of Saskatchewan regulations, CSA B51, and ASME codes is required. Experience in pressure vessel and piping construction or repair, and at power stations, is preferred.

The work schedule is flexible, potentially up to 13 hours/day, with shifts varying from 6 to 18 days on, followed by days off. The hourly rate ranges from $65 to $70, with per diem for long-distance inspections.
