Job description

Forbes Bros Ltd. is seeking an experienced Quality Control Manager (full-time, permanent) to support operations in Canada. This is a remote position that requires extensive travel to various project sites within Canada and the United States. The successful candidate will be required to be on project sites for a minimum of two (2) weeks.

The Quality Control Manager will be directly responsible for all quality related activities on the project location. Supporting the Project Manager and Construction Manager, they will implement and maintain quality programs on site. This includes management of all sub-contractor quality specific to the project, auditing processes/documentation to ensure compliance to requirements and positively influence the overall success of the Quality Program.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Support Construction group in the development and implementation of the Project Quality Plan, Inspection Test Plan and Quality documents/forms based on project requirements
  • Implement and manage all phases of Quality Plan such as communicate project-specific requirements, resolve Non-conformances, verify and monitor the implementation of corrective/preventive actions
  • Responsible for documentation review, analysis, sign off, and maintenance including quality reports, logs, test results, and certificates documentation
  • Conduct field inspections on various activities such as concrete/civil works, stringing, excavation, and structure setting- collect, review and appropriately file field inspection records
  • Perform periodic Quality reviews and audits to ensure that the Quality Plan is established and followed by persons doing work
  • Develop written plans and procedures for project specific activities to supplement task planning and assist with as-built document completion, as required
  • Coordinate field inspections with Client inspectors and other interested personnel
  • Responsible for subcontractor and supplier compliance requirements on the project (Audits, site visits, continuous check points, etc.)
  • Work with field personnel to ensure ongoing compliance with local, national, and international standards and legislation
  • Assist with the investigation and resolution of quality issues – Root cause analysis, disposition, follow-up and close out
  • Assist with project closeouts and lesson learned at the end of the projects
  • Ensure project close-out completion in a timely manner
  • Perform other tasks related to this function as assigned

What we are looking for:

  • A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in Quality Management in underground or transmission powerline construction, utilities, or civil construction, is required
  • Journeyman lineman ticket or combination of related field experience, is preferred
  • Proven background as a QA/QC Inspector in large scope projects
  • Significant years of experience managing a team of 3+ Quality Coordinators or Quality Inspectors
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with excellent time management skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects/activities in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
  • Able and willing to travel and accommodate project/site schedules as required
  • Able and willing to work flexible and or extended hours in accordance with project/site requirements
